Spray it...for now

after thinking and thinking SC or NO2 over and over again i think im going to spray for now. I spent my whole morning laughing at the old nitrous "bye bye" moments from the ones who were/are spraying and the SC guys. I would love to SC but right now I have bigger plans and with holidays coming etc... i'd rather wait till tax time so i can do it with no problem and possibly with a built motor

WITH THAT BEING SAID I just hit 131k on the clock. I DD my MM its a road car as well. I have a JLT CAI (want to go JLT), Z tune, J-Mod coming soon hopefully, MAYBE 4.10s. Car dynoed at 267 as is with a different tune

so what are my options now? how big of a shot? what brand is proven?
anyone have a kit for a reasonable price?

I'd say don't waste your $$$ on NOS if you plan on a S/C in the future. Save for the holidays, tax time etc.

I would think NOS might be harder on a motor with 130k+ miles on it. Maybe I'm wrong.

Be patient and just save for a S/C. That way you have the power on demand at all times!!

i wont have to save for it then i have the money now but i have a family i support and im making a selfless choice right now which is the best choice. I WILL SC come the new year tho. anyway if its harder on the motor then i wont do it.

Nitrous eats motors, especially the ones with weak cast pistons, I would stay away from that stuff

I'd be cautious with spraying a motor with that many miles on it. Better off doing 4.10 gears, Jmod and adding a 3000 stall converter.

i plan on doing 4.10s, JMod when landy is ready ...i wouldnt mind a stall if i can get one for a decent price.

Spray is good as long as the engine is in good shape. I wouldn't go more than 100 shot

so many mixed feelings on it has me  ...i called DR he said its ok. im

What is the reason for the nitrous? It's not a long term solution as a power adder and I would only hope you would be using it at the track. You would need a mighty large shot (more than your engine can handle) to get that "bye-bye" effect.

Not meaning to hijack, but did you wind up replacing your valve stem seals?

honestly SC'd, Nitrous, NA ....my car probably wont ever see the track. I dont all out race it. its a DD and may play light to light or on a back street, open her up on the highway but nothing serious. there is no REASON for it just a fun additive 100 shot max

I've been in the same boat as you about the NOS vs. SC...I personally have ended up taking the quoted advise.

When you do it, what kind of SC are you planning on going with?

I love the Centrifugal blower but it'll most likely be Eaton swap due to the fact it'll only be play here and there use; no track.

Back in WW2 the Germans used NOS on their fighter planes [BMW powered ]
for that extra kick. ,Cheap H/P, Now today BMW has no connection with aircraft engines ? [wonder why ] they to found out it can shorten the lift expectancy of engines. Roll Royce still builds Aircraft Engines even though they sold the car division name to BMW and Bently to VW AG .

Put Nitrous on it with a window switch 100 shot. I like the ZEX wet kit. Its easy to install, set up. Set the window at 3000 to come on and off 500 before your rev limiter. And adjust your timing accordingly.

do you currently run spray?

do you currently run spray?

Not currently. Was running 18psi from a trilogy with 250 shot of nitrous on a cobra short block. This is Sherms car.

Right now the car has a 2.3 whipple at 21psi and the fuel pumps are maxed out so no go on the juice right now.

I also recommend a fuel pump upgrade for the N2O or a boost a pump.

blown 3.8 seems to know his stuff! i talked to him at mv9's car show, and when/hopefully get money(just waiting on the verdict) im looking to spray my car and have him/his shop do the work. i have 119,000 on mine, and from what i hear a zex wet kit is the way to go. he told me to also to get a fuel pump upgrade.

i would like to jump in on this post....i was going to write almost the same post except im not going to get a supercharger....my vehicle is my DD also, iv'e been told the cast pistons will burn up/hole through them and to get forged pistons. my question is....what should i do to make my car completely reliable if i get nitrous? my car drives very smooth, and the only issues iv'e had was at ~97,000 i replaced the COP's, and at 107,000 i had to have the tranny repaired which at that time i had my mechanic do the j-mod. i have an sct xcal2 so tuning shouldn't be an issue. everything else is stock, what parts should i get to go with the nitrous?
