A way to really contribute - in the Spirit of a Helping Hand...

Hey Guys -is anyone in Florida near this kid to help steer him to a decent mechanic or shop? Someone has to be able to help him out......sounds like he really needs it.
Maybe someone knows someone who'd be looking to help the kid out and build their reputation a little in the process......just sayin'.

I used these instructions from fastblackmerc and had no problems:

How to remove the LCM from a Marauder, Crown Vic or Grand Marquis.

The LCM is about the size of a brick and is located just to the right of the steering column, in front of the gas pedal.

There are 3 electrical connectors on the LCM.

Remove the bottom two connectors by depressing the tabs and pulling on the connectors.

Remove the 2 mounting screws with a 7mm nut driver or socket.

Push the LCM towards the gas pedal while rotating it up towards the roof. Once it’s free of the bracket, pull the back of the LCM down towards the floor.

You should now be able to release the last electrical connector.

Just reverse the steps for re-installation.

Underneath the steering column to the right. Almost right above where your right foot would be.

Thanks so much guys!!! It doesn't sound like to much I think Im going to try to tackle this one!! But first I'll be stopping by a ford dealership to see what one of there mechanics can do for me off the clock.

Does the LCM issue happen on every car eventually, or just certain ones? I have not had this issue, and don't want to have it happen at an inopportune time.

it WILL happen sooner or later. It starts by one headlight randomly going out, hit the LCM box and it will pop back on. You can get by doing this for a number of months until it quits all together.

Fastblackmerc has the permanent fix. I'm not having issues now, but I'm still having him swap it outwhen I'm in North carolina in a few weeks. He does it through the mail too

Normally I don't post or pass on PM's because they are just that, PM's. I recently received one that I thought everyone should read. It is an example of an appreciative young man and gives me hope that the future isn't going to be so bad. Proof that when we all pull together we can succeed.

"THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I don't even know where to start or even how to start thanking you for all that you have done! Because of you I was able to get my MM back on the road and running again. When I posted my post about my car I had no idea something like this would happen you and every one that is apart of this communtiy are some special guys. Yea we crack jokes and laugh but when I needed a helping hand you guys reached out and helped me and you guys didn't even know me!!! Life is crazy and being a young man Im learning as I'm going but I can honsetly say you guys have gave me a diffrent view from the same building. I will be getting a car wash and waxed today so I'll send you pics to post up later today. " - Dan Hall

Hey, Guys I made it down there to look at the car and Im really pissed :mad2::mad2::mad2: at these people at Pep Boys!!!! My Air Bag light stays on, My ABS light stays on and my traction control will not turn on!!!! and they can't tell me why these lights are on!!!

Air bag light is on them, the ABS and traction control may be a tire size issue. What size tires do you have on the front and the rear?
