What did you do to your car today?

Just ordered a pair of these for the back of Lemonade:

You will like these a lot!

Changed the factory original front turn-signal bulbs that were peeling off the amber paint. Yes, I saved the original bulbs....I also obtain classic insurance from a reputable insurance company in the collector hobby industry.

Lowered the rear about an inch to take away the stink bug look and installed factory style replacement fog lamp assemblies. The previous owner epoxied aftermarket fogs into the stock housings and cut/spliced the harness. Took forever to dig the epoxy out.

That's the next thing I'm doing tomorrow!

Why save the original bulbs???

Mine are peeling now and need replacing which is why I'm asking...

Drove it to work. Strangely, I never thought of myself as a timid driver before, but I find myself being paranoid about being hit in the carpool lane. I commute down what HAS to be the busiest freeway in So Cal - The dreaded 91, all the way from Corona to Compton.

Glad I kept the beater Corolla. That will be the primary carpool beater for the foreseeable future. But holy **** do I like driving this car. It's hard going back to the little car.

Jacked up the Galaxie, pulled the front bucket, and started the project to swap out the instrument cluster.

I installed the present cluster in the early 80's. Sure was a heck of a lot easier back then. (Didn't even have to pull the bucket.)

I wonder why?

Cluster is still not in. Ran into some problems, and there's no way to put all the connections together without putting the cluster in place first.

Very little room under the dash... Just about everything has to be by "feel". There's about nine different bulbs plus leads to the GAS and TEMP gauge and another electrical connection.

Probably be a bit easier if the car didn't have a console.

Project turned into one PITA.

Well, I had planned to do it the next day, but it rained! So I replaced the original turn signal bulbs, and the side marker lights too. I honestly didn't even know there was a bulb there. It makes sense looking at it, but the bulbs were burnt out before I ever bought my MM. They're really freakin bright! I'd almost say they might look better in Amber, instead of clear.

Cluster's in. All instruments and dash/OIL/GEN/turn signal lights work.

One bad socket will not stay in place. Seems to connect, but then just pops out.

Have to jury rig something, because I can't put the bucketseat back in until the project's complete.

Dash looks brand new.
