    51 years and counting

Started out as a Gal 500, but over the years, I converted her to a 500XL. Second trans, 3rd motor, orig 352/2504v, used 352/250//4v; rebuilt 390/300/4v; roughly 220,000 miles today. Except for the VIN, there is nothing on the car that isn't from an XL from the front fender/rear quarter...

    51 years and counting

This month, my 64 Galaxie and I reached the "51 years of ownership" mark. Purchase price in 1969: $750; 46, 819 miles. We have not aged a bit.

    This crazy weather!

The weather is crazy...... Last fall. here in north Jersey, the cooler temps took so long to arrive that my town had to extend it's leaf pick-up program. In Nov/Dec, it was too warm to snow, so we got bombed with rain (thank goodness). This past winter, we had two really cold spells, but they...

For Those Who Appreciate A 68-71 Torino GT......

I liked the 68/69 Torino, but I thought the Merc Cyclone was just a bit classier. So, I bought a new 68 Cyclone fastback instead of a 68 Torino. Cost, $2,950. But, I settled for a 302/4v. Should have waited a year and got a 351/4v.

    It started: scam call

Unfortunately, I have a close friend who insists on forwarding crap, mostly political, to me and a host of others. When they forward to others, and they forward to others, and they forward to others, the chain is endless.

    It started: scam call

First time I've ever received a scam call in the middle of the night, 12:45 AM to be exact. A name and the originating phone number (my area code and exchange along with 0000) was on the display. It was bound to happen sooner or later.

    50 Years and Counting

Same here. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Car started as a 352/4v; I put in a used 352/4v, and then a 390/300.

    50 Years and Counting

We did it. We hit the magic 50! Bought my 64 Galaxie 50 years ago with 46,819 miles. She now has 219,725 miles. Hot summer for car-shows. Went to 5 shows. Won 4 trophies, "Top 25 or Top 40", stuff like that. After roughly 35 years of showing the car, the trophy case is now officially closed...

December 7th - Pearl Harbor Day

I was fortunate to be assigned to a Hawaii project when I worked. I made it a point to visit the memorial on a beautiful Sunday morning. It was a long time ago, but it was something I'll never forget.

    39 years from now?

Here in the north Jersey area, I've seen a number of wrecking yards close down. My Galaxie has a fender from Seattle, a grille from Virginia, a rear bumper from San Diego, a front bumper from (I forgot), a dash pad from Pa, and 500XL rear seat and speaker trim and a rear end from two different...

    39 years from now?

I've had a few lookers ask what year my Impala is. IMPALA???

    39 years from now?

Speaking from experience, unfortunately, Ford products in the early/mid 60's had rust issues. I don't know if Fords were better or worse than other cars, but, it seemed that owners of GM cars were more likely to hang on to their older vehicles. I was all set to dump my car many years ago due to...

    39 years from now?

39 years from now, I'll be 114. In 2057, how many will still even remember Mercurys, or Oldsmobiles, or Pontiacs, or Plymouths? About the same number that today remember Nashes, or Hudsons, or DeSotos, or Henry J's or Kaiser-Frazers..... I've been showing my Galaxie since the mid-80's when I...

    1954 Monarch Lucerne Sun Valley

I can remember in the 50's going to northern New Hampshire with my folks on vacation and seeing my first Monarchs. I remember the Fords were also different, and were called Meteors.

Before Mercury had "Sign of the Cat"

You guys are too young to remember Mercury's "The Big M" advertising in 1956. A lot of Big M commercials on the Sunday night Ed Sullivan (who?) show.
