Sure, at this point it couldn't hurt. I was thinking that I would also pull the steering column cover off and check the wiring there.

I tried that and got nothing, when I released the key I heard a subtle sound from somewhere in the engine compartment that sounded like a cricket--not a typical dead battery click but a very low sound- I was able to replicate it every time I released the key.

Thanks for the condolences and well whishes. Watch out for the Caddy. A few members of my family have owned Northstar powered cars and they all leaked oil, and have had issues with stalling that nobody can seem to figure out. That engine is nowhere near as good as the Ford DOHC 4.6.
