Hey all, long time. I'm sorry to say it looks like this forum isn't getting a lot of use ...
I've been unable to work on my Marauder for 18 months due to a needed bone marrow transplant (me, not the car), that took me out of commission right as I was trying to get the transmission back in. I'm recovered enough to get started again.
Here's the current status
The car is on jackstands in my garage. The trans is disconnected and pulled back from the block. Some of the harness connections are not undone. The trans is on a cheap harbor freight rolling trans jack that can't seem to hold the trans level , even when the strap is used.
I have steelworks headers in place which make it impossible to simply get the trans at the right height and roll it forward to the block...the trans must be lowered to get past the headers and then raised to the correct height relative to the block. All of this with a janky rolling jack.
The problem , I'm pretty sure, is the the torque converter is slipping forward as I go up and down past the headers. I did manage to get all 4 converter studs lined up with the flex plate holes and each one was through the flex plate a thread or two. However, when I went to push the trans up against the block ( I used 4 extra long bolts of same thread through the trans and into the block to ensure correct alignment; the 2 cylinderical pins were lined up perfect) it wouldn't budge the last needed 1/2 inch or so. I can't see any wires, cables or anything else interfering.
Any suggestions to help me get this done?
Thanks
-Kev
