Rick, Here's the bottom line: Any of the modern oils will work well. Some may work better than others, particularly depending on how the oil will be "pushed" - towing, hot & dusty climate, etc. Ford recommends 5W20 in its modular engines and all of the 5W20 UOAs are showing stellar results...

Personally, and this is just my opinion, the extra price you'll pay for an '04 isn't worth it. The differences are too minor to justify the premium. I suggest snatching up a nice clean '03 300A if you can find one. Again, just my opinion. Good luck, and welcome to the site!

Killjoy, Ditch the nasty RTV sealant and go pick up a NAPA "Victor Reinz tuffcork" gasket for about $7.00. Trust me, the next time you change the gear fluid, you'll be glad you went with the NAPA gasket. I've used them in 5 Panthers with ZERO problems whatsoever. They've very nice gaskets...
