What did you do to your car today?

This week I had to replace a cracked fan blade. Ford doesn't sell just the fan blade, but only the entire fan and shroud assembly. So, I had to go to a wrecker. Problem is, my car wouldn't get that far without overheating, so I had to patch the existing blade. Here are my attempts: 1. This is...

What did you do to your car today?

While trying to locate the source of a fluid leak near the back of the engine, I discovered a pair of wires whose insulation had completely vanished for about a 2-inch length, right near a connector. As best I can figure, this connects the knock sensor to the engine harness. The missing...

So, you're saying it didn't come from the evaporator? That would be the component closest to the cabin.

Don't you mean parallel to the output shaft? Perpendicular means 'at a right angle [90°] to'.

What did you do to your car today?

A/C oil leak. The spot where it dripped from should help to identify the leaking component, since they're fairly far apart from each other.

Yes, original engine and trans. What have I replaced? Hmmm... over the years, aside from oil changes, tires, brakes, spark plugs, and other usual wear and tear items (by no means chronologically ordered): 1 Alternator (actually, put in a DC Electric I got at a good price which died after a few...

Definitely go with a breaker bar, 3/4" if you can get your hands on one. 1/2" might do, or it might snap - get one with a free replacement guarantee. Get a long piece of pipe - like 3 or 4 feet long - that's big enough to go over the breaker bar handle. Or, a 3-4 foot breaker bar. Torque...

    Highest kms

Since Canadian Marauders, or the 300eh as I prefer to call them, have the odometer read in kms, the numbers are much higher than the mileages of our neighbours to the south. I'm approaching 450 kkms. 500 kkms is at least 3 years away. Nevertheless, 450kkms... anyone else in this ballpark?

What did you do to your car today?

Yesterday, I was sitting in traffic with my nephew, when all of a sudden the car gave off a loud bang! Instinctively, I exclaimed "What the **** was that??". Started hearing and intermittent, short-lived clacking sound, loud af! Pulled over, shut 'er off, popped the hood and had a looksee...

    Winter wheels, or re-mount tires?

If your car uses the stock brake setup, then you can fit 16" wheels from any compatible Ford product. Personally, I use 16" rims from a 2006 MGM, which I picked up from a boneyard for a decent price nearly 10 years ago. If I had the time, I'd seek out a set of 17" rims from a CV Sport.

    Pitman Arm Torque Specs

That is probably the tightest nut on the entire car. 250 ft-lbs iirc. Add 17 years of neglect, it's gonna take some work to get it off. I remember doing this job on my '80 Ford... used the handle from my 2 1/2 ton jack to get it off. Removing the Pitman arm itself was the next challenge...

    Weird clicking noise

Cracked cooling fan blade. Just happened to me yesterday. Super loud, runs for about 10 seconds, then you hear it slow down and stop for about 30 seconds. Repeats indefinitely. Engine runs hot after a few minutes.
