Fixing the battery cable is a good thing regardless of the other issue. I'd put the car up and give the connection points for the fuel pump a good going over. Perhaps a connection came loose.
Have to admit I wasn't prepared for this thread. We last saw John at Carlisle a couple of years ago. He was a great guy to shoot the fat with. He will be missed. Ms.D and I send our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

I tried Mothers wheel polish and got so-so results, but my lens were very yellowed. Yours aren't that bad. As for aftermarket, TYC's seem to work and Depo brand also if you can find them are good choices. Ease of fitment is generally the issue over looks. Light pattern on the aftermarket...
