    Time Flies

UncleLar, Yup, been a long time. Hope things are well with you and yours. I just happened to get a birthday email from here and thought I would take a look if anyone is still around. I rarely see any Marauders around here anymore. Don't know if Adam still has my old one. Happy Holidays, Wags

    Car show fiasco

Then you get the other extreme. Had the '68 in a show about 15 yrs ago. Nice sunny day. Had it in the show field, top down, hood up, trunk open. Left and went to kids football game a few towns over. Came back and saw that everyone was uncovering their cars and drying them off. I guess there was...

    Replacing A/c accumulator

Don't forget to let the system sit for at least 30 min minimum after vacuuming it out with the gauge connected to verify no leaks before recharging. No sense wasting refrigerant if you don't have to! Wags

Pulsating brakes even with new rotors. Why?

Have you checked the rear rotors as well? Don't know if you have replaced those as well. Warped rear rotors will also pulsate when stopping and sometimes hard to tell if front or rear causing it. Wags

A gas pedal that wants to stick on take off...

If all of the above check out, one other culprit could be a broken/bad motor mount. Especially if taking off with a lot of throttle. Motor can pivot some, bind the throttle linkage and stay sort of "stuck" until torque is reduced (usually when shifting). Just something I have seen a few times...

    For Sale 1999 Porsche 911

Dom, What options are on the car? such as NAV? Full leather? Sport chassis and traction control? The 10 speaker sound system? Power lumbar seats? Heated seats? These are just a few of the options on the 911's. Do you have the original window sticker as all options will be listed on that. I ask...

    Slight A/C problem... or normal?

Ok. According to the original post he said that the ac was "turning off" at higher rpms, but not at wot. I thought he had 2 separate issues going on (compressor switching off and blend door problem) One other thing, if it was completely down on refrigerant, don't expect it to stay full now...

    Slight A/C problem... or normal?

Dominick, You said it takes 55oz of refrigerant. That seems high unless you have rear aux ac also. If you don't and you are overcharged you are probably hitting a max high pressure condition when engine rpms go up. When it hits the max pressure the compressor will switch off until the high...

    Getting kids into racing

My friend had his kids start out with Jr. dragsters when they were around 6-7 yrs old. If I remember correctly, they had 5hp engines. The lower age ones were governed to 25mph I think. As they got older they moved into ones that would go ~50mph or so. As soon as they reached 16, they got their...

    Time to fix my A/C

Very easy fix. You might want to replace the dryer as long as the system will be open if you want to. Also, vacuum out the system and let sit for some time to verify no other leaks and to evacuate the system before re-filling it up. If you don't have a vacuum pump and manfold to do it, I believe...

More BS Alternator issues I cant figure out

Time to start voltage drop tests. It is a good way to track down gremlins. Very easy to do and will eliminate things as you go. Did you try any drop tests yet? Things can look like they are fine, but come to find out they are really high resistive connections and causing problems. Don't assume...

More BS Alternator issues I cant figure out

One other thing I can think of, but you probably have already checked, is the connection on the starter. I have seen this on one other car years ago that had the same symptoms as yours. Alt checked fine, bat checked fine, still would only output ~12v. Redid the connection for starter and...

More BS Alternator issues I cant figure out

Have you checked the resistance from the case of the alt to the frame? Should be close to 0 ohms. You probably have already, but it could be the "master" ground connection could be compromised somewhat and would be prohibiting voltage output of the alt. Also you can check current drain with...

    Alternator pulley socket

Yes the socket is the same for the Audi and the MM. I used the one that I got some years ago for the MM to remove the pulley from my TT. Same socket. Wags

Cut off age for an older car?

Dom, Everything depends on how well a car has been maintained and treated. I've seen many low low mileage cars that are not dependable at all while on the other side Ive seen many cars 10+ yrs old that are just as reliable as when new. My Exploder (12 yrs old) is a very dependable DD and is...
