Both Cats blew apart

I have 3" mandrel bent exhaust with two, one on each side, 100 cpsi high flow cats. My exhaust note changed and I only had exhaust pressure coming out of one tailpipe. Took her to an exhaust shop, pulled the center section of my exhaust out, I had the exhaust built on sections in case work had to be done, and the steel spiral guts of the drivers side cat was completely gone, the passenger side was 75% blocked. They had to cut open my exhaust to remove it. The piece that was gone, was wedged in the x-pipe. The cat that was partially blocked was cut open, guts removed, then welded back together.

 
Were these name brand cats? Did your exhaust guy have any theories as to why they would both blow? Maybe your car is to powerful Marty.;)
 
Mandrel Bending Solutions did the work and they're going to fix everything. I've always heard good things about them and wouldn't think they'd use cheap product. But anyway, they're gonna fix it at little or no cost.

I have, nor do they, any clue what happened.
 
I heard they guy who was a real fuss-budget on getting everything exactly lined up left and started his own company. Somewhere near the Pa-Md border. Glad to hear they are going to fix it.

Unless something bad happens we will be there. Hopefully with both cars.

Did you sell the thermostat housing?

Heck bring any spare unwanted parts, you might make a little coin.
 
They also did my exhaust, I have very low miles on it(under 500). The cats are starting to rattle, their most likely going to be replaced with resonators.

I've got a brand new set of 03 04 cobra cams as well as an A-pillar 2 gauge pod and some other things I might just bring.
 
Ignition misfire can damage a catalytic converter. Hard to tell from the pic looking at it on my phone but the "guts" look to be melted.
