Groovy silent sounds?...

Its a tactile transducer in that it converts the signal on a speaker wire (usually LFE) to vibration. When mounted securely on something, it shakes the beguesus out of it.

"Tactition is the sense of pressure perception"

Well, thanks for the answer, but I read the "explanations" in the website, and they don't really 'splain the details.

Do you know what frequencies they actually transduce? I doubt there is much actual LFE (3 to 20 hz) being amplified/sent on the speaker wires, so do they take, say the 80 to 120 hz part of the signal, and reproduce it as an octave lower, or subsonic? I assume the vibrations are sub-sonic, but perhaps they are not?

What it vibrates is whatever it is attached to. I haven't seen one in person but have been told the sensation is like someone kicking your chair leg in time with the LFE in a movie.

I'm a little concerned that they suggest attaching it to your car frame. Not sure I want extra vibration on something that could affect control. Sound waves in the cabin is one thing but I'm not sute I want something jerking the whole car around.

I have some, non silent, vests that work in a similar way. They were made for computer use and games. Playing doom the second version, was a blast but it was deafening and felt like you were being kicked in the ribs every thumping noise. Made flying combat aircraft or space ships exciting, and difficult and generally worked well but was too noisy.

The buttkicker is supposed to be much quieter.
