Drive shaft hitting

Hello MM family I have an 03 blk marauder and when someone is in the pass. Seat or when I brake abruptly at a stop the front part of the drive shaft hits the bottom of the car right under the console where the oval groove is... .. It's the round part where the tail end of the trans and the beginning of the shaft joins ... It's annoying I can't drive like this.. What could it be the trans mounts or what???...
 
:eek: Uhhhhhh, NOT good! I would have that checked out immediately. Say, I wonder if the passenger is getting the shaft? :D
 
I had it checked out... And I seen myself and nothing is visible except the marks from where it is hitting
 
Ahhh... so it's not a wobble in the shaft, it's actually a constant rubbing. Did it just start doing this or has it always been an issue? Have you had any trans work done?
 
It doesn't have any play in it at all while it was on the lift but it is close to the floor ...it's getting worse
 
Your cars body isn't rusting/sagging around the frame is it? If the trans isn't moving up to meet the body then the body is coming down to meet the trans. Simple as that, figure out which is happening. How's the trans mount?
 
I've never heard of u-joints causing the D/S to shift position so severely that it hits the floor pan, especially since the OP says there's no play in them.

Sounds to me like you've got a motor or transmission mount issue.

This is what I was thinking. Oh God! I'm starting to think the same thought's as RF:eek:
 
RF Overlord - I've never heard of u-joints causing the D/S to shift position so severely that it hits the floor pan, especially since the OP says there's no play in them.

Sounds to me like you've got a motor or transmission mount issue.

I have to agree with Bob.

With my 27 years of driveshaft manufacturing experience, IF a U-Joint were to cause this issue, it would be short-lived.

One of the bearing caps would have to completely fall out of a yoke. Once that happens,.. well... BOOM! Bye-Bye driveshaft. Hello all kinds of undercarriage damage.

Motor and Transmission mounts would be my first pick.

Maybe get in the car with the hood up, set the emergency brake, put it in gear and while holding the brake pedal very firmly, tap the gas while someone is looking into the engine compartment (from the side of the car), to see how much engine movement there is?

Do not have the person looking into the engine compartment stand in front of the vehicle when doing this!

It was in an accident but I think it was from the front.. It has an R title. I'm thinking trans mount tho.... It only does it when I brake hard and if someone in the pass. Seat
 
No sagging or frame rust at all .... Yea that's a good idea I might jus do that get a friend to see while I put it in gear.. Thank you guys
