The Omicron Electronics place told me that the area behind the dash has a slope to it, and that the regular Ford satellite radio like the one that came in my daughter's Expedition won't fit in the space. That's why I'd sure like to have the part number off Shodude's Escape unit that he installed in his MM. There are lots of aftermarket "in-dash" units on the market, but, IMHO they all look like doodoo.

Your electronics store is clueless. I have a Audiophile unit in my LX Sport, I looked at the sat radio plug in, $300 was a little steep for what it was.... to me. FWIW, I scored mine, new, for $130, off ebay. You gotta look for mispelled words and ads placed in obviously the wrong catagory.
The unit that was in the Sport, has a SAT button, but it is a tape/CD unit, if somebody wants it..... I could be talked out of it.
The "sloped" radio were in '02 and down, the '03+ panthers used a full sized radio.

That really looks great!
What other hardware is needed to be able to listen to Sirius?
Will our steering wheel buttons interface with thsi?
Do you have to go with the additional Ford parts or is their
some aftermarket adaptor that will work with this but still
display the song info on the radio?
Is this a "bolt in" or are modifications needed to make it fit
and hook up.
Questions, questions, questions.................
Plug-n-play,you just have to make sure that you get a unit with sub outs, not all had them.
What do you use for an antenna?
ok guys.. the part number is 6L8T-18C815-FD. you will need the receiver, harness, and antenna for sirius to work but all that can be found on ebay for 70-100 bucks.
nope.. mine set me back a good 250 i beleive but i wanted something someone wouldn't smash the window for. but also sound good.. i acutally like the sound of this unit better then the stocker. seems to use the subwoofer better then the stock unit.
Sorry to dredge up a blast from the past but no one actually answered what exactly was needed to make this happen. I'm talking part numbers or places to buy the entire kit, etc.
I just bought the 6L8T-18C815-FD Mercury Mariner head unit and want to add Sirius to it.
I found this: http://store.xmfanstore.com/complete-sirius-install-kit-for-ford-lincoln-mercury.html but the guy who ansewered the phone sais it will only work on the 2008-2009 radios. No clue if this is true.
I also called the Ford stealership. After arguing with the guy for nearly 15 min about how that radio WILL NOT work with the Marauder:mad2:, I finally got him to give me a price for the Ford kit assuming it was going in a Mariner. $349. Yeah like that's going to happen.
So if anyone has installed Sirius with their stock('ish) head unit, how did you do it? What was the part number? Ebay is my friend.
I know...all these audio questions. Sorry.
My 2004 MM was sold to a chap in Tennessee, and he sold it to a fellow from New York.......but I assure you I had XM satellite radio in it. I bought a Ford Visteon P/N 4042818 satellite-ready radio from either an '05 or '06 Escape. I then bought the XM tuner and the adapter off the internet. The reason everyone says it won't work is because the wires in the adapter aren't run to the correct terminals in the nylon connector. My radio shop (the guy who does the radio work for most the Ford Dealers in the North Dallas area) had to call the service department at the manufacturer of the adapter and re-wire the connector while he had them on the phone. Voila...it worked for 2 years for me and was still working when I sold the car.
I bought all the stuff on ebay. As best I can remember, the radio was a couple hundred, the tuner was about a C-note, and the adapter was about fifty bucks. Add the installation cost, and it was a tad over $400. I sold the OEM radio to a mercurymarauder.net member for about a hundred bucks, so it was a $300plus installation.....in addition to about 2 months of figuring out how to make it work.....but it was worth it to me.
