Unsolicited Advice For Keeping Your Marauder Yours!

That takes too long. A hidden mechanical fuel shutoff easily accessible would be best. Like a petcock.

Wont stop a tow truck.

Thats how they steal cars around here!

Bottom line is if someone wants it bad enough they will find a way to get it!

Thanks Paula.
While you can have all the hidden switches, fuses removed, engine removed, what ever
the Flatbed with a hook is alll they need.
Secured doubled secured means little to them. You have to go out sometime or other.
I had Lojack all ready installed, did no good. They seem to find that almost at once.

As to car Jacking, When someone runs up on you with a pistol pointed at you even
through glass, the cars is theres.

I knew a guy once who had a remote kill switch, so if he got car Jacked he could
run across the street, and hit the switch, they wrecked the car a block away, because they bailed and let the car roll into on coming traffic, You can guess how that turned out.

A guy I work with had this installed, Looks like it may work

He has yet to have to use it .
He does use it while he is on the Job.

Bottom line, if some mutt wants your ride, they will get it some how.
Ingenious device if you really look at it. Easy to use and dismount with.
Quick release.

Russell,

That looks like a good device, I may have to find one, I generally just keep an off duty gun on my person though.

And for anyone even thinking about carrying a firearm for protection, keep in mind, your life WILL change when you pull the trigger.

As far as some mope running up on me with a gun, it could happen, I always pay attention when stopped and in traffic, I always leave myself a way out while stopped, you have to prepare for the inevitable. I am, and am willing to protect myself, my family and/or my property. We really shouldn't have to live this way, but it is what it is.

When away for a long period of time. Actually lock the garage door if it has a lock or install a lock that's only accessible from the inside.

I like this best - I keep mine in the map pocket on the front of the driver's seat when I have it w/me!

Another great use of he 300A map pockets. ;)
My garage is well lit, as well as video monitored 24/7. We also have 24/7 sercurity making the rounds. I also have low ceilings so no chance you are loading this up on a flatbed in the garage and good luck trying to drag it out without spotted.
My NY street smarts keep me always aware of my surroundings at stop lights or wherever I park the car. A carjacker better be prepared to be dragged because I will not give this car up without a fight.

Thanks Paula.

I've had a full cary in NY for the last 15 years .When Mr Smith and Mr Wesson are with me I feel very secure

Gentalman,
Let consider some of the senario's.

Hhhmmm gun idea...I Like it...but that have to wait for later on..as for now I was thinking of getting this type of alarm AND a kill switch/fuel shut off....Hhmm how much for an alarm like in the video would cost? Anyone?....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTZwYE9MUQ0&nomobile=1

Marauder21, Very nice set up, however most people don't pay any attention to car alarms any longer. The one in the cabin is a good idea
but it needs to be very load come from all around you. Not just under the dash. Cutting the wires would end that. May I suggest that since you
have outside alarms you install them front and rear so the whole car is an
alarm

When away for a long period of time. Actually lock the garage door if it has a lock or install a lock that's only accessible from the inside.

Joe,
This is a good idea. What I see here is an outside lock, No problem
The inside lock only accessible from the inside.
First how do you access the inside lock to open the door, You could use a
electronic switch. which uses a frequency to trigger the lock. Not bad.
If I wanted your car I would set close to your house and use a frequency
scanner to find the correct frequency and program a unlocking device to
trigger the release the lock.

Krytin,
Good Idea, question are you left handed? If so than the gun is in your hand when you exit the vehicle. Problem here (and I share this with you because I am left handed) is most times the mutt is jerking the door open, so there is a time factor to consider, Second, If this mutt see the gun in your hand
your a dead man. Solution is to learn to use the firearm with you right
hand. Exit the vehicle with the sidearm at your side next to you leg.
As soon as you are out of the vehicle, bring the weapon up to your just above you belt line and place your shoulder to your elbow next to your
body as close and tight as you can, point the weapon at the mutt and
fire twice, if there is more that one mutt, Turn towards the other mutt
and repeat same action. It you stick you arm out to arms length the mutt
has a chance to grab your weapon and disarm you or move the point of
the firearm away from his direction. Holding next to your side pointing only
from your elbow out, you have a much better chance of hitting your target,
and less chance of being disarmed. It Takes practice to use your right hand
if you are left handed. Trust me I know. I can use sidearms in either hand.

The same is true with the photo I provided you with, as you exit the vehicle your right leg and butt will shield the firearm from the mutt and
you have a better chance to get on target.

One thing to remember is what Midtown told you, your life will change
forever once you pull the trigger. Not only legally, but how you see things
from that day forward. You have to live with the fact, you have killed
another person. Doesn't matter that he was a mutt, It is extremely
difficult to carry around this action you have carried out.

LEO are trained to deal with this, but it still is not easy the first or the
second time.

My garage is well lit, as well as video monitored 24/7. We also have 24/7 sercurity making the rounds. I also have low ceilings so no chance you are loading this up on a flatbed in the garage and good luck trying to drag it out without spotted.

Paul,
Remember the mutt is armed, you may not have the chance to move
and drag this guy down the street. You know as well as I do how much
traffic is in NY,Chicago or any metro area. Think about trying to cross
34th St.durning any part of the day from the Queens Midtown to the
Linclon tunnel. You really just can't pull out into on coming traffic or move
to the right of left. Think of the Northern or Southern State Pkwy or LIE.
It is good you live in a gated community and they provide 24/7 patrols
Your Street smarts is of great value to you and those of us that have it.
Some don't. That is why I and many like me are on the Job.To protect
and serve.

Thanks for your time

Well for someone with a detached garage, that would be an issue. But for someone with garage attached to their home. That person could lock the garage from the inside, set their home alarm via a remote and go out the front door. That way their house is secured and the garage is locked from the inside.

I suppose one could always park the MM sideways in the garage too. Put the car on those wheel dollies, spin the car sideways, jack up the car, remove and hide the dollies.

Man FKing sucks that we all even have to talk about this sort of thing :(

WTH!! Total BS.

^^^... and also park other owned vehicles in front of garage if available! Here in the city crooks like to back into your garage door in attempt to get it off track using tow trucks etc. and with a hanger pull on your emergency chord/string by the overhead in your garage and B00M entrance made! When this became the new reoccurring thing to do by Scumbags I removed the string immediately. People tend to want silent alarms (In hopes the Po-Po will catch 'em), but I'd rather have an audible one and scare 'em away or at least a neighbor might be a witness in catching a license plate or description of offender/s, but if I'm home "Beware of Owner and his DOgs". If they want it they'll get it so let them find an easier prey <--- it's a shame we have to think like this! ^^^

Joe, you and Touchdown have good ideas.
If you have neighborhood watch then that is also helpful.
I hope I didn't offend anyone by my coments earlier in this thread.
Just trying to help. As I said I've already lost one DBP., I thought I had things in
hand, but I guess NOT.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.

For all of you guys packing guns.

What happens IF someone gets the drop on you and you can't use it?

What then?

I'm not knocking you guys but a gun isn't the the end all be all answer!

Then its time to knuckle up!:argue: and open a big can o WHOOP AZZ

The essence here is deterance. We all know if they want it, they'll get it. But why not make it difficult to take, and then difficult to out sourse the parts. If Defyant Marauder ever ends up in a chop shop, there will be some very disappointed thieves. Her parts are marked and cataloged.

I must comment on the guns. I am a proponant of self protection. I am also a fan of all of you staying alive and not being shot by the police because of some misinturpreted furtive movement!

IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO DIE WHEN PULLED OVER BY POLICE, DO THIS:
You are driving along, minding your own beezwax when the lights come on behind you. TURN ON RIGHT DIRECTIONAL, SIGNAL INTENTION TO PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT, WHILE LOWING ALL YOUR WINDOWS. UPON STOPPING, PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK AND SHUT IT DOWN. PLACE YOU HANDS ON THE 12 O'CLOCK POSITION IF THE STEERING WHEEL. AWAIT THE OFFICER TO APPROACH. AFTER THE OFFICER APPROACHES, ADVISE YOU ARE ARMED AND THE LOCATION OF THE WEAPON. FOLLOW ANY INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER.

Special note for the super duper dark tinted windows: You're at more risk for being stopped and having the officer respond with back up and weapons at the ready. Be extra careful.

The tread is not intended to incite paranoia, just, as someone said, provide a wake up call. I am just as guilty as the rest of you in letting my guard down sometimes. Key is to recognize it, and prevent it from happening again.

Good point Hhmm what are your initial response to a killswitch Russell? and I have a question...in Illinois there's an age limit to carry a firearm...lets say there's a gun in the glove compartment and your 17 yr old son has used said firearm in Self-defense from someone trying to rob the car. Can he get penalized as well for carrying a concealed weapon in vehicle and being underage?

Well buckeroo if that should happen it's just a car in the long run and if someone has a gun pointed at your head and demands the keys it's best to just give them away. MM isn't worth your life.

I think what these guys are saying is that most car jackers aren't expecting a tactical response from their victims which funny as it sounds actually gives them the upper hand.

You must access the situation and make the call.:)

A hidden fuel shutoff valve would be a lot cheaper and they would never figure it out.

Or just pull a fuse or two.

In Australia they this stuff: The most powerful theft deterrent in the world!

http://www.nanotag.com/How_Does_It_Work_.html

You can put 10 or 20 of these all over your car.

An absolute MUST ^^^^ right there. Thanks for putting that up Charlie.

This is the first thing I was told when I got my permit! When I travel armed - almost always to the range only, w/a few exceptions - I have my permit ready in a clear travel wallet/I.D. holder hanging from my neck. If I was ever to be pulled over I would display it while lifting the cord up from behind/back of neck. the only reason I keep the weapon in the map pocket when driving is that I am right handed and the paddle holster I use is a high ride but because of my size it's pretty much pinned to the console!
