Has anyone pulled off their intake side tube since they installed it and checked to see if there was any oil getting into the intake side tube? I pulled mine off today and sure enough there was oil in it so that kind of defeats the purpose of the whole catch can theory.

Going to pulled the intake manifold off sometime soon and clean it, in the mean while I am going to revisit my old catch can at least that one allowed zero oil to get by even if it had a whole cup of oil in it. I might also just get a catch can with a breather filter on it.

Yep, big time. Didn't want to slam Travis so I kept my mouth shut. The $40 Parker Style actually work - and they are easy to clean.
 
I recently found a cobra guy who made one using a Kobalt (Lowes brand) oil/water seperator that holds a HUGE amount of oil. It looks like it holds 8-10oz. I'm going to make one using his instructions. The best part is - the parts only run you around $30. I also want to instal a Metco breather.

It's nice to not slam people, but it's also nice to warn/inform people. I guess it's not really trash talking if it's true and it's coming from you wanting to inform potential buyers and not just deminish tyhe sellers reputation.

I just think his design is flawed some, the inlet side from the pcv should run further down into the can near the bottom, drill some air bypass holes and then stuff stainless steel mesh into the can above the bottom of the inlet side tube that comes down into the can.

I'm not slamming him by any means. Last year I noticed some oil and kept quiet, thought maybe I had let too much oil collect in the can and cleaned the intake side tube. There was some there about 1k miles ago when I last dumped the catch can, figured I would spray it out and clean the filter and I pulled the intake side to check as well.
 
Honestly I think all catch cans are prone to let a lil oil by. But long as it catch the bigger quantity I can live with that. I have a home made catch can on mind now and recently purchased one of the cans Travis offers. I really like the molded hard PCV lines that comes with the kit for the Trilogy that is.

We won one at Carlisle last year but were warned it wasn't worth installing which I wasn't surprised to hear. Prolly explains his rapid departure from mm.net.

I thought it was because DR cried every time he was faced with the possibility of competition?
 
DR has always had great products for our cars, he just isn't the nest business man. Too bad really.
 
PCV fumes are predominantly water vapor with some light boiling petroleum distillates (BLOWBY) and NONE of this will hurt a thing in your intake unless you take it off to show people how it looks inside??:cool:

My engine is very old with ultra-high mileage and never had a "catch can" N/A for 84K miles or the subsequent 155K miles Supercharged and I have had no problems with my intake or consuming "blowby" through the PCV!!:shake:

This is just another "Feel Good Mod" IMHO since PCV setups have been on billions of cars & trucks since the '60's with no apparent problems!!!:beer:

I'm using a pair of 42 Draft catch cans, they work in my case, is it a feel good mod? Probably, I feel good that they work.
