Just a quick question.....

There has been some talk about replacing the clockspring to fix broken cruise control, air bag problems, etc.

Has anyone ever replaced the clockspring and that fixed the problem?

I've worked on cars and trucks for over 30 years (10 years professionaly) and had never had to replace a clockspring.

Hello Jim, I have replace two clock springs to repair switch function. Last one was my 2009 F150. BUT not on my MM.

I had to take the one in my 2006 Taurus apart because the ribbon inside was clicking against the plastic housing and was annoying when I turned the wheel. I coated the inside with silicone grease. Easy to replace if you know your tools and procedures.

Still haven't tested mine. Too busy.. But a definite yes in several F150's.

I've had two go bad on my car almost back to back, maybe there was a bad batch. For me I lost all wheel controls, no horn, and airbag light flash. Easy to change and cost me $45 online or something and all has been well for the past 5-6 years

We've done so many Chrysler products that I could not even begin to count them...not as many Fords but we have done them

i had one done on my wifes 03 vic when she had no stering wheel controls dealer wanted $750.00 got it done by my reg. guy for $400 it is all labor the part was like $50..

Ok here we go; What's a clockspring? Were is it located? What does it do? And how do you replace it? Sounds like something I'm going to have to deal with someday.

Google is your friend......

It maintanes contact to the various circuits as the steering wheel turns.

Why would you install Google Chrome?

Use Mozilla Firefox.

That's just it. I left work yesterday I didn't have it. This morning I had it. It's a government conspiracy or something. It's out to get me.

I think I'm going to have to replace mine in the near future, no cruise control and the horn went crazy and wouldn't stop blowing a few weeks ago.

I'm getting an intermittent code 19 on the airbag light and it looks like it's coming down to the clock spring.
Anyone have a source for this part?
I found only one place so far - fordparts.com and they want $145!
