Emissions trouble

If you can read and write to the Ecu with your programmer then the ECU is fine. Put the stock tune in and allow a week for it to clear the not ready code. In NJ they went to the new software in 09 or 10 and I failed and the machine spit out a 2 foot long sheet of issues. A week before I go, I upload the stock tune and then upload the aftermarket tune in the lot when they are done.

Mike told us that he has talked to Tim about it. So Tim should know.

Hell, Mike even showed us how he does it on the computer. I'm thinking I will probably just get my car redyno tuned. But have it done by Mike. Super cool and explains everything in detail to you.

I had Mike data log my car for me a few weeks back and Brandon has been trying to dyno tune his car there. (But his car is fighting him every step of the way.)

Mike will be retuning mine next week, so we shall see. I'm going to drop it off for a couple days so he can work his magic on a few drivability issues as well.

So Joe with the retune etc you believe or are they saying the car will pass? Is anyone saying they can get them to pass now?

Looks like some one tampered with the tune and locked it out. So the stock tune cant even be reloaded. Now looks like having to replace pcm. Anyone have an extra stock pcm that will allow the stock tune reflashed or had three stock tune already on. 300 b model 2003

I do not think there is a way to lock the tune. It sounds like there is a problem between the OBD connector and the computer so that you can't communicate with the computer, which IIRC is what you posted that the emissions test indicated, "no communication". So I'd check out the communications bus, the power and grounds at the OBD connector before throwing a computer at it and having it not solve your problem.

The obd ground and connection was checked, then on to Ford friend for stock software and they can't figure any other way then some one locking it. To my knowledge only one other person has ever touched it! And he won't even answer the phone. Nor sure if he finally gave up cars yet.

Sounds like it was corrupted somehow, what year is your Marauder? There were 3 factory tunes as far as I can remember, all 04's had the MAV2 stock tune to accommodate the Traction Control switch that was added and maybe some minor tweaks. Can they upload and download from your ECU?

There is no lock, have them check the vin in the ECU and see if it's corrupted. I have the MAV2 stored on my laptop for the sniper programming system if you have an 04 and want it. I am sure others here may have it in SCT format too..

Your best bet is to bring it straight to Ford and have them hammer it on their proprietary system back to stock with your original vin. Then take it from there with a reputable tuner who can hook you up with an new tune and an SCT so you have everything in your hand set for your car. This whole venture won't be cheap though.

You can also see if anyone here has an ECU which is stock with a stock Ford tune which matches the sticker inside your door jamb. A tuner with a full blown SCT system may be able to vin match it for you I think, the dealer definitely can. This way when you go for an inspection, it will all jive on the emissions sheet.

Just so you know, a "No Communication" from the emissions shop may be several things, If they can get in and read the ECU, then there is no problem beyond that the stock tune is not in the ECU. The "No comm" is from each emissions item their computer is polling but is turned off in the aftermarket tune like your rear O2's. This will spit out a 12 foot long defect sheet from the emissions shop because generally an aftermarket tune will turn a lot of stuff off that it no longer needs to see. This will wreak havoc with the emissions shop computer because it will get a "No Comm" code from the O2's etc.. That will generate a fail on their end and label everything "No comm" If your emissions sheet shows some stuff working and other stuff messed up, there is nothing wrong with your ECU, but you will need to upload the stock Ford tune for our cars to pass. That you will need to get, then get someone to read and save your original tune and then upload the stocker, read and save that. Wait a few days after uploading the stocker so it doesn't have the "not ready" flag in the ECU, get it inspected, then roll it back to your non stock tune in the lot.

You need to get the stock tune with your vin stored on a tuning device along with what is in there. You usually cannot upload a stock tune with any aftermarket tuning boxes with one vin number when the ecu has another because the aftermarket stuff uses the vin as a guide so you can't upload tunes to your buddies car since his vin is different...

03, 300 B. It is at Ford now and they cannot get it back to the stock to either. O2 sensors in the rear were just replaced. If anybody has a very good strategy to replace it when Ford cannot, I'm all ears. I am in northern Illinois.

If your hand held software is updated without returning car to stock, and you reload a tune you will no longer be able to return car to stock. Experienced this first hand some years ago and had to get another pcm. Unfortunately stock one was not available, so had to get the new revisioned one.

You're gonna need another pcm. Warning it is around 800 bucks plus setup (at least it was about 6 years ago when i went through it. See if you can get your model year from the bone yard, also take both your keys so they can be matched to pats.

Been there.

Good luck...
