Radio + defroster = annoying

my radio works fine till i hit the rear defroster button, then its all static
any idea why that is? anyone else have this problem?

Haven't had that problem, but it is a coincidence that the radio antenna and defrost coil are on the rear window. How strong are your stations out there, and are all your window wire connections at the bottom tight, .

yeah everythings tight, its completely beyond me. Signal strength is decent. i just dont know why it is doing what it is and it especially sucks in the winter lol

Same here

Man we have the same problem with our car and we have Sirius radio. We can put our antenna where we want....go figure.

I didnt have this problem with ine until I had the tint removed from my car....

It used to irritate the crap out of me...

The crown vic at my fire department has this issue and also has the wack wipers... not good during a snow storm!! Can't hear the radio and the windshield wipers only worked when they wanted to... very dangerous!

Haven't had any issues with my radio, but I just corrected the "wacky wiper syndrome" on the Bluesmobile. Check out Richy04's post on cleaning out the debris from the wiper motor cowling, that should do the trick.

I waited just a bit too long on mine and ended up frying the motor. Whole process shouldn't take much over an hour; hardest part is getting the wiper arms off.

I will relay the message to the town mechanic! Thanks!

Mine had 22,000 miles on it when I bought it and I had the same problem, but it quit doing it. At around 50 thousand miles.

i agree, i hate those things! whats wrong with a friggin screw~!

Yeah, and what's up with those goofy little keyways and keys?

Tip to anyone trying to remove the wiper arms:

1. Pull the long part of the arm back as far as it will go (then give it one one tug).

2. Use both a small flat-bladed screwdriver and, if possible, a punch awl to push out the tabbed clip at the base of the arm mount. Move the tab out far enough to expose the small ringed portion of the clip, then slide the tip of your punch awl into the ring. Apply lateral pressure to the awl to slide the clip out as far as it will go, simultaniously pulling the long part of the arm back as far as it will go, lifting at the same tiime. When you have the arm pulled back far enough, and the tab slid out far enough, the wiper will pop right off.

3. Get a shop magnet and flashlight, and fish around under the knurled drive shaft to pick up the little sqaure key that fell out of the wiper arm socket when you pulled it off the shaft.

4. After retrieving, put a dab of super glue in the keyway in the wiper arm socket and set the key in it. That way, it will stay in place when it comes time to re-mount the wiper arms.
