The stock exhaust tips have resonators in them?

I heard that the stock tips have resonators in them, is this true? And if so I can get the tips gutted out and keep right? Does it sound better, gets any louder?

More like an extended tailpipe really. Changes accoustics a little when removed is all.

"Look, you could pay labor to have yours cut off and the new ones welded on right? OR you could have yours cut off right after the weld for the chrome, 30 seconds with two concrete blocks (tip centered between the two) and a hammer. Pound the guts out from back to front, reweld. It took my shop less than thirty minutes total."

^^^You could follow justbobs advice and put your tip between two concrete blocks and then pound on it with a hammer. Hee hee.^^^

Thanks CBT! Saved me from rewriting my official epic how to remove stock resonators guide 1.2:D

Ok, I went by like 3 exhaust places today and they told me you can't gut the resonators out because they are welded in??? Can someone reccomend a place in the DC area that can do this?

Bro if it's that much trouble just cut them off and put on a set of 4in. deleted tips. Most shops stock them.
Go to Kellys performance & custom in bladensberg md.

The 4 inch tips will look better anyways.

I stopped by Kelly's today, they wanted $170 to change the tips. I might as well get new mufflers to for that much and pay $550 for the whole thing. I like the look of the longer tips like the stock ones also.

what material is inside the the megs tips?? fiberglass packing or just an air space between the inside pipe and the stainless canister??

A 8' inch or so tailpipe! Thats it! If you look inside, you can see it plain as day along with a crush gasket. They are NOT welded in.
