305k miles, WOW! Do tell us how shes held up mechanically since you've posted an average of once a year.
The only engine problem I've had was around 50k, the left head was replaced under warranty (valve guide issue). Other than that it has been normal wear and tear items - although I have replace the idler and tensioner for the serpentine twice now because of noise.
The tranny is still original, fluid changes every 30k have probably helped.
I have had some issues with the axles and bearings. The first time was in the winter and I had some very noisy snow tires on that masked the noise when the axles went - sent junk through the entire unit and finally took out the pinion bearing. The second time the damage on the axles was found on inspection before it did anything - they had about 125k on them. This last set is due for inspection soon, will do it before the snow flies for sure.
I've had some minor electrical issues - replaced the AC control unit twice before I found the repair thread. The "lights on" dinger has stopped working and the headlight relay itself sometimes refuses to turn the lights on. Both should be easy fixes though, just need to find the time.
I'm on windshield number 8 - my old commute took me down I-495 in Mass. every day while it was under repair. Mass. roads in general s*ck but that thing was ridiculous!
I don't beat on her but then again I don't baby her either. She sees 80 every day and several times during the day. The one thing I do that probably has led to her long life is I always take the time to let the engine warm up - even during the summer. It'll be 90 out and I won't leave until shes opened the thermostat.
As for oil, she gets Mobil1 every 4-5k (which used to be once a month). I always use either Sunoco or Gulf premium, Mobil or Shell when I have to but never the generic brands.
I've always been a Ford fan - my first car was a Torino wagon I bought for 400 bucks and drove to Florida in a month later. When I first saw the Marauder show car I knew that if they made it I would buy one - I have not been disappointed in any way.
I am thinking about picking up a Flex in the spring so I can take her off daily duty and give her a proper paint job. I may even pull the engine just to check it out and freshen it up.
Hopefully this makes up for my lack of posts and lurking in the shadows for so long!
