F-M-L-E Concepts that never made it into production

Some great finds, looking forward to more. The Canadian Meteor in 1961 isn't really a Mercury though it was sold by Mercury-Meteor dealers. It is a Ford with some unique bits. The Meteor brand was created to give the Mercury dealers a "low priced" car to sell in traditionally Frugal Canada...

    Key won't turn

Yes a locksmith can get an unkeyed lock cylinder and key it to your existing key. However before you go down that route try some lube and wiggling, jiggling and tapping the the key to see if you can get it to turn. Then you can release the pin and remove the cylinder yourself, then take you...

Trunk / Luggage Compartment light problem and or ?

I'm thinking the solenoid is moving something in the latch further than the key is able to. It may just be a lube issue or something in the linkage between the lock and the latch.

Wheel & Tire GURUS , PLEASE HELP

I doubt those will work w/o rubbing on the front at least. For the front, the overall outside diamter is going to be about 1 3/4" greater, in other words you'll have about 7/8" less clearance between the tire and wheel well in that direction. The outside edge of the tire will also be about 1"...

According to Napa's Buyer guide yes you can use one from a 04-08 F150 or Expedition. Note Napa does have a choice of 2 different "brands" for it.

stock wheel stud length, good length for rear wheel spacers 1/2 inch?

To expand on this since the studs are 1/2-13, ie 13 threads per inch you want at least 6.5 turns of the lug nut before it gets to the point where you are really tightening it.

    Spongy Brake Pedal

So much this. I did it the first time just the other day. The DBP I recently picked up had a really low and soft pedal. The Master Cyl was leaking a bit so it needed to be replaced. Now I did immediately get a big shot of air out of the LF which helped enough. However did the service bleed, then...

    ABS Removal & Repair

It is most likely the module, I know with my son's 01 Grand Marquis it was intermitent and when the ABS and Traction Control lights were lit it would not communicate with the scan tool. When the lights were not on then it would communicate and had no codes.

Does anyone have the resistor ladder values for the audio steering wheel controls?

Well I can't find them for any of the Panthers, but I did find them for an 03 Mountaineer and I'm pretty sure they are the same across most radios. 73.2 for volume down +133 for volume up +237 for next +543 mode +3920 to ground. Hope it helps.

Random misfire (P0300 & others + sometimes no AC)

From what I've read the crankshaft variation is learned during deceleration fuel cutoff when speed has been above 60mph. So you need to clear the codes and find some place where you can get it up to 60+, take your foot completely off the accelerator pedal and wait until the car slows down to 40...

What did you do to your car today?

Bought it, brought it home, programed another remote, turned off the horn chirp when you lock it with the remote, and drove it! I've had a Black 300a for a number of years but added to the collection with a DBP 300b.

    ABS, brake lites illuminated.

On my son's 02 Grand Marquis we had the same problem. Sometimes the ABS and brake light would be on, ABS and TC in-op, could not connect to it with a scan tool. When the lights weren't on everything worked, could connect with the scan tool, no codes and good wheel speed signals. Replaced the...

Mechanical or Electrical Trans. Temp Gauge?

And the reality it that what really maters is if it varies from whatever is the norm for your car in the location your sender is mounted.
