Some great finds, looking forward to more.

The Canadian Meteor in 1961 isn't really a Mercury though it was sold by Mercury-Meteor dealers. It is a Ford with some unique bits. The Meteor brand was created to give the Mercury dealers a "low priced" car to sell in traditionally Frugal Canada. For 61 there were the following models Montcalm (Galaxie), Rideau 500 (Fairlane 500) and Rideau (Fairlane) Here is the 61 Brochure http://oldcarbrochures.com/static/Canada/Meteor/1961 Meteor Brochure/index1.html For the same reason the Mercury dealers sold Mercury trucks, the M-series an analog to the F-series and the Mercury Econoline.

Of course the Ford dealers who were near Mercury dealers were not happy. So Ford created the Monarch brand which was a Mercury with some unique bits, to give the Ford dealers a "mid-priced" car to sell.

Things did get real messy for 1962 though as they got the same mid size Mercury Meteor as the US and the Meteor brand was dropped until the Meteor went away in the US and the brand was revied for a few more years until they did produce a Mercury Meteor as the base full size Mercury in Canada.
