I just replaced the driver's window lift motor. Before I started, I had new regulators with and without motor. Both were Dorman from local Aito Zone and Carquest. $40'00 and $101 respectively. Did not need either, as it was the motor. Just adding my 2 cents worth.

If the cable is not intact from end to end, the regulator is likely bad. Each end should end at the glass mount. If you can get a regulator with motor, that may be your best bet.
If the motor turns one way, it is not the motor. This is a 2 wire system. You reverse the + and - leads to change motor. direction. Makes me suspicous of the switch.
