Can Traction Control kicking in cause detonation at WOT/BOOST?

Seems like if it only cut ignition, you'd end up with a bunch of un-burnt fuel in the exhaust that would likely go boom. I can see reducing fuel causing big problems going lean; but cutting fuel for some percentage of cycles, I don't see what the issue is. If for a particular cylinders...

    New intercooler?

Any more thoughts on this? I am reaching a decision point with this, and wondering if anyone else has an opinion?

Anyone Running Falken Azenis or GT Radial Champiro?

Bringing back old thread, but I just came across this and have input. I am running a GT Radial Champiro 528 255/55/18 and I am actually impressed with the tire in my daily driven centri-blown MM. Car made 425/375 HP/TQ and I have 4.10s with a stock converter, but unless its a really cool day...

My 1993 Lincoln Town Car Build from Start to (almost) Finish

Man I love that car, I too owned a 90s towncar and loved it. I've had pipe dreams about building a high powered big block for one of these cars for years! I am requesting dibs if you decide to sell this car!

Can Traction Control kicking in cause detonation at WOT/BOOST?

Of course one turns off the Traction Control when ready to play, but lets say you forget to turn it off now and again at WOT under boost. How bad is that? I was talking to an LS guy, that is admittedly not a gearhead, but said that he was reading in a LS forum somewhere that it could cause...

Billet Oil pumps? Do I need one?

Guy at the shop has a billet oil pump he says he can make me a deal on for my build. Believe he said it was the TSS billet gears. Trying to decide if I need these or not. Is there a certain HP level where these become a better idea? I'm really trying to draw the line somewhere, but if I...

I will certainly be paying more attention to my gauges!

    replacing burnt pistons

Yessir, I have all that, the warranty was for 1 year but problems due to detonation wouldn't be covered. I still haven't verified the root cause of the problem... I'm gonna be worried until I can determine the cause. It's possible the fuel pump started to go and leaned out at some point. In...

    replacing burnt pistons

It was a MMR 600 with forged rods and pistons. I believe he is getting the same pistons again from MMR. Will also replace timing components. Apparently heads are warped too, so I guess the machine shop will determine if the heads should be replaced or if they can be straightened and milled.

    replacing burnt pistons

It must be something unrelated. I had the car tuned by DR the morning after I got it, then I had some gears and blower pulleys swapped and retuned at MO's. I know it was right when it left there. Jeff showed me the fuel pump duty cycle and I have a wideband in the car that matched what the...

Any of you guys with 15% or 18% OD dampeners have any issues?

Turns out the t-stat wasn't the issue as suspected. Apparently there had been some detonation going on that I never detected and shop thinks the HGs had been leaking for some time. Its been a little while since I've data logged the car, so not sure if maybe a fuel pump issue contributed or what?

    replacing burnt pistons

Had an overheating incident the other morning that we thought was the result of overheating due to frozen thermostat. Turns out both HGs are blown and some pistons are burnt, but the shop says that it looks like I had been having a good bit of detonation and that the theadgaskets were probably...

    New intercooler?

So I have my car in the shop getting headgaskets and pistons... I figured while I was at it, I would consider some combination of mods: 98 intake cams IW 10%+ OD dampener Torque converter (mine is still stock) The guys at the shop think I should go with the 98 cams, but over the other...

Any of you guys with 15% or 18% OD dampeners have any issues?

Yeah, I'm just hoping I can get out of this one with HGs and maybe a set of bearings, though I was unable to discern any coolant in the oil. I am at 424 HP and 371 TQ (STD) on dynojet. Those number have always seemed kinda low to me in reference to others posting here with centri blowers...

Any of you guys with 15% or 18% OD dampeners have any issues?

Thanks for the pic! I had an unfortunate run in with a sticky thermostat (our current guess) resulting in a blown HG, still praying I didn’t hurt the shortblock or warp heads... Must have gotten too hot before I noticed the gauge during morning rush hour. Noticed it running almost on the H...

Any of you guys with 15% or 18% OD dampeners have any issues?

Any of you guys with 15% or 18% OD dampeners have any issues? About to get one of the IW units, curious which one I should get. Wondering if I should go 10, 15, or 18%? These seem kinda rare. Thinking the bigger the crank, the bigger SC pulley I can run without belt slip issues. I'm...

    What length Rca cables?

I have no idea how things are going to be routed just yet, and was planning to go ahead and order a cable. Was simple wondering if anyone remembered using a particular size. I apologize for having wasted some of ya'lls time with questions due to my laziness.
