If the car starts, you have the air out of the fuel lines. But if you need to encourage it to start with the gas pedal, the reading from the MAF might be off. It needs to be logged at idle to see where to tune the MAF more accurately. Once the engine knows how much air is actually coming in...

The fuel system seems to airlock quite easily. It is hard to start the first time after getting it back together. When we did mine we started wondering if we had a kink or a fuel pump issue or something - it was just airlock to the rails.

That should work fine. Just check it for oil seepage at the connections, as that is airflow through the PCV system. If it weeps oil you may need to keep hunting for a solid pipe or better yet, add a catch can.

To me it sounds like some sort of vacuum leak. Odd that it only happens for 30 seconds though. Maybe something is expanding that seals it up. Do you have a boost/vacuum gauge installed by chance?

You've built a nice car, leave it and enjoy it! Get another one! If you must pull it apart, let me know, I might be interested in doing some swappy-swappy on my parts to up the boost some more. Though my car is running great; I should listen to my own advice.
