If the oil pressure went to zero and the engine was still running its not the drive gear pin. When the pin breaks the distribiter stops turning,the oil pump is driven off the same shaft that the point/reluctor runs on.

I don't know of anybody here with a mechanical OPG. The ECM doesn't need an oil pressure reading so you can go a head and leave the wire hanging.

The car in the pictures is a GT/CS a very cool car. My local dealer has a red and white one.

This is what the tow driver used them for on my car. I'd leave them unless the intercooler is in the way.
