Mechanical Oil Pressure Gauge

I am just about ready to install my new S&W mechanical Oil Pressure gauge (OPG) and matching Volts gauge. They are black, opposed to the silver OEM.

Has anyone else done the mechanical OPG ???

If so, did you run into any issues?

Does the factory sending unit need to remain for other EEC/PCM functions.

Will my idiot light on the dash stay on if I disconnect it?


I suspect I can remove the sending unit and tap into that orifice for the hydaulic line for the gauge.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated...
 
I don't know of anybody here with a mechanical OPG.

The ECM doesn't need an oil pressure reading so you can go a head and leave the wire hanging.
