or be intelligent and listen to them... if you want to sell your car, you have to place it at the right price, to COMPETE with others. not sit around and lolly gag and yank eachothers woohoos until someone decides to pay more for the same thing.
GL with your sale.
You know, I appreciate the GL. Thank you. And, to your comment before it, I really could care less if someone buys my car, or not, and I am certainly not interested in competing with the lowest common denominator on price. Really, if someone sees the value I am asking, and plunks-down the cash, I then have a new problem; how do I to replace it. I have not given that issue any serious thought at all.
I have shown the car three times since I listed it, and I declined an offer yesterday of $21K even. I have also received calls from interested parties that, for different reasons, I decided to dismiss as potential buyers. So, time will tell the story here, and, again, I really am completely ambivalent as to whether it sells or not. In the detailing run-up to get it to “showing” condition, I remembered quite clearly the reasons I have held on to the car for such a long time, at least for me. It’s a very rare beast, and the day of the true four-door American muscle car is setting, I think, quickly.
We still have a free country, sort of, so to each his own is still okay, right? We may need to mount the horses and ride to the sound of the guns someday, but I sure hope that this is not the case.
In the seven years I have owned the MM, it's been a great, unique car that I have always been very happy and proud to own. I stopped doing mods about four years ago, because, in my opinion (and believe me I'm not trying to stir the pot here), it was perfect, and anything else I could do would be just very marginal at best, related to appearance and performance. I am sure everyone that owns a MM and has done their own thing, whatever that is, gets the same stuff I get, all the time; “wow, what is that”, “cool car man”, “I have never seen one of those”, “man, that car is bad-ass”, etc. I’d like someone who owns one of these things to tell me they have never heard words to that effect; I think the silence will tell the story.
In summary, thanks for the coaching, but I am marching to a different drummer.
