I've been in the market for a Marauder for a year now. I ran across a 03 black b marauder with 16k miles california car. Asking price is 21k. No, sunroof and no traction control. It has the storage box in the back and full size spare.

I thought I would ask the experts if this is a fair deal?

thanks.

Seems fair but value would drop quickly if it's going to be a daily driver.

Just my .02

There is/was a blue with a trilogy in the 50k range for 18,500. Better deal IMHO

thanks for the info

I appreciate the info. Seems the price on these cars are all over the board. Plus, whether it's a 03 or 04 seems to make a difference as well.

I plan on enjoying the car and putting some miles on it, but won't be a daily d.
Don't plan on doing any racing either.

About 18 months ago I took my 2003 MM Black all stock with 29,000 miles to Car Max in Las Vegas. I am the original owner. No wrecks. No problems of any sort. Synthetic oil changes every 3,000 miles. Excellent Condition. Awesome Car!!! :bows:

They offered me $8,000. :puke:

Needless to say, I still own it.

Yeah, it just depends on what you goals/plans are. A Blue Trilogy would be really rare and cool! :burnout: FYI, there has been a few low mileage examples right here in Florida, lately for less. They don't have 16k on them but if you could live with mileage around 50k or so, then, save all the extra dough and happy modding (if that is part of your plan).

It is a dealer that has the car for sale.

I'm finding the reason most dealers don't want these cars is due to the age. Most banks won't loan on them. Very hard to get a loan on a 11 year old car with decent rates and length of loan. I have found a couple of classic car banks but you gotta have excellent credit which fortunately I do.

I'm attracted to the super low miles since I would like the new car feeling .

Buying a cheaper car and modding appeals, but not sure I really need that. I think the car has plenty of power for what I need. I drive a 2000 2.2 liter toyota camry as my daliy d.

I like these cars due to their classic look and big v8 motors. These cars are going by way of the dinosaur and I don't want to miss out. Some day we will all be forced to drive around in soulless generic pods.

Again thanks for the feed back it is much appreciated.

You can get a very clean low mileage to one for around 15,000. And will probably most likely be a a car which is better. I bought a 03 black a car with 50,000 miles cobra bottom with eaton and other stuff for 15000

If it is at a dealer, then they should have negotiating room, as they mark them up so they can come down. You are right about not many places will loan on a 11 year old car, so if you have the funds, you have some advantages in negotiating. i would go in a test drive it, look it over etc.. and then tell them $18K out the door..let them eat the taxes..KBB is $15500..use that for negotaiting and especially if you have the funds in full.

I'm going to go test drive the car and then think about it. 18k sounds better on the price. I must admit buying one already modded is tempting as well.

thanks again.

This would be one of the smartest decision you'd make regarding a marauder

You are correct on these cars never once having an average price. Location seems to be a big deal, the biggest is when a seller decides they want to move on and offer it up too cheap, and also "what's it worth to you" plays a huge role. For me, if I was in the market for one such as the one you found, I would have no issue at all paying $20.

If you are in Houston check this dealer out. They ALWAYS have nice low mile Marauders, don't know why they have so many, or how they find them but they do. I was thinking maybe someone up high in organization owns one and loves them or something. Its closer than Cali and you could check it out.

Yeah, I said the same thing........... 50k later......:shake:

I would look for something with at least a tune and gears, you are going to be 500 times better off buying off of this board, as most everyone here takes better care of their cars than anything else in life.

I bought mine in early 08', car had 13,700 on it, loaded 04' with a power roof, I paid 21k then for it, so if you plan on keeping the miles low, the value will stay, if you plan on driving it or modding it, I would look for a 40-50k mile car, it doesn't hurt as bad when you rebuild a car with some miles on it.:D

T.P. Derrick that is the Marauder at Texas Direct. I just put 500 bucks down on it to hold until I get my money.

All great advice guys and I do appreciate all the different points of views.

I went and looked at the car and drove it. The car was freakishly clean. Who ever owned this car kept it in a climate controlled vault and only drove it on special occasions. The inside smelled of fresh leather. I crawled over and under it. It's like someone took a rag and wiped the car down every time it came back from a drive. The exhaust was clean enough to eat off of and so was the engine. Paint flawless, inside perfect not single scuff or tear. Everything worked including the foot pedal adjuster. Floor mats and carpet like new. I spent a hour looking over every inch of the car and couldn't find a single thing wrong with it. It had the trunk organizer as well as the cd box in the trunk. Everything on this car was stock. I couldn't believe it. Sadly, I couldn't control myself either. The best I could get them down on the price was
$21, 480. I just couldn't walk away from it. I would have to say this is the cleanest one in houston.
I figured if I passed on this then It might be a long while if never that I would have a chance at finding another near me that was in new condition. I have three other cars, but I'm no collector. This car will be driven just not daily.

I plan on keeping this car for many years.....provided the deal goes through.

Pre congrats anyway..until it is finalized...You'll definitely want a tune for it, it adds 20ish HP and alters the trans shift schedule to more responsive rather than trying to get to OD so quickly. COntact marty at Mo's Speed Shop, He is an active member (martyo) and it can all be done via phone and email..You buy frm them if you don;t have an SCT handheld, they laod the tune ointo it, and you plug it into the obdII port under the dash, downoad and all done. The sct device stores the factory tune so you can redownload whenver necessary and then stores the performance tune.

Thanks, for the info. Reprogramming and get 20 more hp sounds great. I look forward to learning more about these cars.

Yeah, its there or at least according to Auto Trader. I never seen it, I just search around Auto Trader, Cars.com & E-Bay for special V-8 Mustangs, Lightnings & Marauders and always see really clean looking ,low mile Marauders listed there. Hope you get it, no need to go all the way to Cali for nothing when you got a nice one right there under your nose.

Getting one with a properly installed and functioning supercharger would add a great deal of fun and value.

A good supercharger would be at least 5 to 6 grand for the parts alone. Hiring a competent mechanic to install it would be essential and costly. Add to that a new tune, bigger tires and a few other mods, the cost and fun factors go way up.
