373 vs 410 Gears

Marauder comes with 3.55 gears , going with 3:73 wouldn't be that much difference

Better topic would be 4.10's vs 4.30's

Get the 4:10s , and a tune, and be done with it!

I would install 4:10's. You said your not close to a supercharger YET, so it sounds like you are planning on installing one in the future. I had upgraded to 4:10's from the 3:55's a couple years before I put a supercharger on and I enjoyed those gears both before and now after the supercharger install.

Only thing I wished I had done at the time was upgraded to 31 spline axles and a better quality differential when the gears were swapped. It's ok though, you'll view the car different after the supercharger is installed. Good luck and HAVE FUN! :burnout::burnout:

Going from 3.55s to 3.73s is only a 5% difference. 4.10s are a 15% difference.
Do you really want to spend that much money for only a 5% improvement?

Ask your mechanic for his exact reasons why he thinks 3.73 is better...we'd all like to know.

I installed the 4.10's five years ago. It was one of the best things I did for the car. Now the stroked engine has a partner at the back of the car. The extra power gets transferred to the road. And yes... perhaps you need a new mechanic...sorry!

I bought mine with 4.30s already in it and thought they would be way too steep based on past experience with older cars with three speed auto and four speed manual trannies. I was quite surprised to see it tach just under three grand at 80 mph in fourth and the car can still bury the speedo for a short time if you're not scared of holding it at 5500 for a few.. if I had the choice I would probably use the 4.10s on anything that wasn't a long trip car. That is what my 2.73 Equipped crown Victoria is for. This car would be good for a 3.73 Swap so tell your mechanic I will just bring him mine ha ha.

I've ran both 3.73's and 4.10's in Marauders. 3.73's didn't make a damn bit of difference. Do 4.10's or save your money for something else.

Talked to my mechanic who i bought my marauder off of and asked him what he thought about the 410's and he told me 373's would be alot better to run. Any thoughts?

Your mechanic needs to stick to Mustangs cause he knows squat about 4000#+ cars.

355s to 373's may make a difference in a car light like a stang but would mean zip and a waste of hard earned $ in something as heavy as a MM - especially NA.

If some one starts giving you bs about mpg, ignore them. Difference of .75 mpg is not worth thinking about.

Get the 410s, you won't regret it! :burnout:

i dont drive all year but i would like to drive with 4:30 i have 4:10 and dove cross country but i think 4:30 would be more enjoyable.

Would you put 4.10s or higher if it was a DD?

I had 4.30's and loved them. The only thing I found annoying was the highway RPMS at 70 and up.

I only switched to 4.10's to get the beefier pinion gear as I shattered damn near all the teeth off my 4.30's after the six speed install. Finally I had the gearing for stupid low RPMs at any speed well into the triples, but unfortunately not the effects of instant torque from a twin disc.

Get the 410s. When i had my 2000 crown vic lx hpp which come with 355 stock, i went to 373 and was a waist of time. 2 weeks later upgraded to 410s and then really felt the upgrade. It is always best to go 2 steps up when doing gears to really take full advange of the nice upgrade.

My 410's have done 140 plus with stock driveshaft and no vibration. Don't do it often but when a corvette is messing with ya it feels good to pass it lol.

I am enjoying a small bit of a gearing boost due to my car coming on the smaller stock front tire 235/50/18 size tires on all 4 corners. If I was going to go to the trouble of a gear change, I'd do 4:10.
