$5000 to spend

I currently have $5k to spend on my 2000 crown vic p71 and would appreciate some advice on what exactly I should get. The car has 70k miles on it and is running strong. I am located in Florida as well so I would be bringing it up to Dennis for installation. Speed is what I want so post away!
 
Welcome aboard. S/C and do gears in your CV. I hope that you already have the limited slip differential.
 
Found a nice Marauder up for sale with 69800 on the clock. It has the following done to it:

Installed around 5-7,500 mile range
Ford Racing 4.10 Gears
180 Degree Thermostat
Reinhart Performance Tune Flash
Addco Rear Sway Bar

Installed 15-25,000 mile range

That list on your 70k mile car will cost 5k easy.

A MM with these mods is one that does not sit around. It may be one for you to consider.
 
How are the 4.10 gears for an everyday driver? I was told top speed with those gears would be rather low.
 
I own both cars:

A 2000 Crown Vic Police Interceptor and a 2003 Mercury Marauder.

I suggest you ditch the idea of making the Police Interceptor "fast" and put that money toward a Marauder instead. You will spend $5,000 minimum just to get the CVPI anywhere close to the performance of a Marauder, and when it's all said and done, you're still driving a Police Interceptor that isn't worth anything to anyone.

The Marauder is head and shoulders above my CVPI in terms of performance. The CVPI is my daily driver, however, and it performs the task perfectly.

Just don't bother trying to make your CVPI "fast" 'cause it ain't worth it!
 
Good call, at the end of the day, the insurance company will not give you a thing because it is a seven year old fleet vehicle. If you load it down with go-fast goodies, you will loose them if it gets wrecked beyond repair.

I have 4.10's on my daily driver, I've had it up to 120.... private track of course! You'll lose about 1 or 2 MPG and the engine will turn about 200RPM higher at speed. You will have to recalibrate the speedo.

Got to totally agree with these guys with what they said. You would be a lot happier with the Marauder and it's a better starting point of performance.

A good SC install will be at least that much if not more, you then have to consider other issues with this install, such as gears exhaust and transmission up grades, what I would do if you are sold on using the CV, which we do a lot of, is do the car in stages, if you bought a Marauder you will have to do the same thing, so start where your at, every one here knows what it is like to be on budget, why not give me a call next week, and will go over several options.

Do it!
That's a great deal on a fun car. Besides, bullet proof tranny and rear coolong mod adds many miles to motor and drive train!
 
Oh, another thing I should've pointed out:

Your 2000 CVPI has the non-PI heads, so you're already at a disadvantage right out of the hole.

By the time you've spent all of your money on that CVPI, you'll still get whooped by a stock Marauder. It'll take a lot more than $5,000, as Dennis said. And like I said before, your car still isn't worth anything because nobody's going to give you a dime extra for an old CVPI with a bunch a speed parts on it. The Marauder, on the other hand, will always retain its value better, even if you modify it.

Trust me, I own both vehicles. The Marauder is hands-down the better car in every way. The CVPI is what it is, a predictable-driving fleet vehicle with a solid reliability record which is cheap and easy to maintain.
 
Dennis do you recognize the details on this car? He said you did all the installation on the car just wondering if you remember it. I am really tempted to buy the Marauder but dont know how I would like having a car payment. I will give you a call later on this week and get your opinion. Thanks
