I have checked many threads on this subject. I have the option of doing 13% in the rear and 32% in the front. Or 32% in the rear and 50% in the front. What do you think of this? The car goes in on friday at 9am. Gettin it tinted for the new baby. Also I saw some threads saying that there was a factory tint on our windows??? I cant tell at all. Was it just certain year/model? Thank you for your time. Jason

Jason,

Our cars have tinted windows as well as many others that are equipped with A/C from the factory.

I would go with 32% on all windows. Most, if not all states will not slap a citation on you. Any lower, and you may have troubles.

Fifty-percent is rather light, IMHO. Thirty - thirty-five percent is nice!

Take into consideration night time driving. Especially while it is raining.

Mike.

I also recommend the 35% or 32% on all windows. If you are really concerned, ret the 3x% in the rear, and legal in the front.

Our windows have a slight tint that looks bluish to me. The tint on the car when we got it was too dark for us, don't know what percent it was but we had it removed. Going to retint with much lighter tint only on side windows. Driver can roll them down in dark and rain if needed to see. Both my wife and I have visual problems and this is what suits us best. If all drivers of your MM have 20/20 vision it's probably not much of an issue how dark you go as long as you stick to legal limits as a guideline.
.

legal in MN is 50% all the way around.. I did 40% charcoal tint on my car, and i think its perfect. not too dark to attract attention from cops, but dark enough to be comfortable.

Tint here in illinois. The two front windows can not be tinted at all and the back windows can be as dark as you wish. I am not to woried about it becouse I work at the local sheriffs dept. and my father works for the u.s. marshal's office here also. That is why I was thinking of the 50% on the front and the 32% in the rear. I would consider doing the 32% on all four though. But I am not totally sure as of yet. Thank you all for your thoughts.

My input? Do 15% or 20%. Mine is 15% and is perfect, for me, and I can still see out at night.

I went with FormulaOne's "Ultimate 38".

I honestly cannot fathom how people can safely see 100% thru anything super dark.

My eyes aren't what they were 20 year ago ... but I'm certainly not blind.(knock on wood).

I find small things(like animals or road debris) to not be as visible if you go to dark with tint.

Too each their own I guess.

I just got mine done today, 32% front, 17% rear. I like it, just have to look a little more carefully backing up at night, but I can still see out OK. I use my mirrors more to back up anyways. (used to driving large military vehicles)

I would go with 32% on all windows.

This is good advice IMO. I have exactly 32% tint on ALL windows. I love the way it looks. It's not super aggressive, and it's not lame tint either. IMO...split tint looks like shat on our MM's.

Well...I have 20% all around.:coolman: Got them in Georgia during a period of time that the state allowed the tint laws to expire. Of course, soon afterwards they reinstituted them, and I promptly got a "warning ticket". :depress: That being said, I am now in Florida, and they are darker than legal, but as light or lighter than 75% of the cars here. I don't have any problems with the tint, day or night, but I guess I'm just used to it. My wife, on the other hand, hates it being that dark...or that loud...so she doesn't drive it!;)

should let me see it when you get it done. I have been wanting tint for a while but not sure what % i want...was thinking 20% on mine.

You are correct that in Illinois NO tint at all is allowed on the front windows.

Having said that, I'd go with the 35% tint all around. It looks much better when all the windows are tinted the same than when the front/rear don't match.

I have a 35% tint all around and have never been stopped here in Illinois. It looks good, especially on a black car, and it's light enough that cops woun't bother you [although there's always one in every crowd.]

My $.02 worth anyway.

I concur, 35% all around is the way to go.:D
