Any '69 gurus here?

I just scored a '69 Marauder (don't have it yet) and was wondering if there are any '69 gurus here? I'm sure I'll have some questions once I start delving into it.

I'm not professing to be a "guru" but I have a '70 X100 although may be for sale in the next few months.

Thanks, guys. The car appears to be all there and overall in decent shape. It does have rust in the quarters, don't know how bad yet. It's the base model with optional fender skirts. I don't like fender skirts and won't put them back on once the rust repair is finished. What are the chances of finding wheel opening moldings for a non-skirt car?

The car is red, red vinyl bench seat, factory air.

According to George Carlin, 71 is the way to go! [emoji1303]

390 or 429?

Congrats on the score! I'm not sure I've ever seen a '69 Marauder with rear wheel well trim except for the piece that goes along the lower part of the skirt.

I agree. Based on the pictures I have - no skirt equals no rear trim, but also no front trim.

If you want to talk to a "guru" check out mercurymarauder.org. Not sure if you have to join but the guy you want is John Snopko. He has a '69 X 100. Once you can get in, you can find his contact info in the Registry.

According to the Marti report, this car is:

429 2V
Red paint
Dark red vinyl bench
2.75 axle

It is equipped with:

Trim variation (?)
H70x15 Wide Oval WSW tires
Power steering
Power front disk brakes
Air conditioner
AM radio
Rear seat speakers
Tinted glass
Remote control LH mirror
Fender skirts
Wheel covers

Somewhere along the line, someone tried to make it look like an X-100 by adding the wheels and painting the rear deck black.

As you can see in the photo, it does have front wheel well moldings, although they may have been added as well. The fender skirts are in the trunk.

I believe all '69s had blacked out rear decks, not just the X-100. The 1970s did not have the blacked out rear deck.
Also, while the wheels were standard on a 1969 X-100, they were also optional on the standard Marauder.

Nice looking car!

I have 1970 L-M sales literature and the low gloss color on the trunk, tunnel roof could be had for extra cost on both the Marauder and Marauder X 100. It came in 3 shades-black, dark red metallic and dark green metallic but each shade only went with certain body colors.

IN '70 the "Marauder wheel appearance group included wheel opening moldings, fender skirts and Marauder wheel covers; wheel covers are deleted when group is ordered with styled aluminum wheels. Molding and fender skirts standard on Marauder X-100". Elsewhere in the same literature it states fender skirts are standard on the base Marauder and X 100.

I wonder if '69 is the same?

John Snopko has told me the main differences between 69 and 70 are something about the front parking lamps, radio antenna location and front header panel ornamentation. Hope this helps.

My Marauder love started with my Father having a '69 X-100. Pale yellow color, no blacked out trunk, skirts, column shifter and no AC nor power windows. Black interior.

My understanding is this...

X-100's were all 429 4bbl and dual exhaust
Standard model was a 390 2bbl single exhaust

Skirts, I do not know how that works. I'm a fan and Dad's had them.

Both had "Airplane" gears.

Dad and I did went to buy a '70 Marauder X-100 from an elderly widow, Pale Blue, blacked out trunk, console, black interior, A/C, Power windows, etc...

When we accepted her asking price, she choked and backed out.

Such is life,,,

The Marauder has landed at my buddy's shop. The rear quarters are a mess and will have to be replaced. The rest of the car is amazingly solid. No rust in the trunk or floor pans. A little bit in the lower front fenders. The frame has scale rust, but no issues. The best part is that the car is basically unmolested. Even the a/c and headlight doors work!

The wheels and trim rings are in excellent shape. They have what appear to be Shelby logos on the center caps, so I'm wondering if they're repros? Although the repros I've seen are a solid chrome wheel, no trim rings.

He's going to bring it to my storage facility and it could sit there for up to a year before he gets to it. He's that busy. I'll start accumulating some parts in the meantime.

I'm going to sell the fender skirts. Anyone have any idea of their value?

Don't sell the skirts, you'll regret it later. They're a part of the car, like the AC and headlight doors.

Do you have a close up of the wheel caps? I know what they should look like.

Sorry, for the poor quality, but it's all I have at the moment. Here's a shot of the center cap.
