I really would love to see the OASIS on this if possible...

There are 5 vics at a dealer not far from me and of the 4 are reported as accident or multi-accident by Carfax... but this one reports clean... does OASIS show anything different? Was this brought in for the wheel recall yet?

If it all comes back clean i'll be looking at buying this one tomorrow.

I was... at least it was the plan this summer. But after totalling my 01 and needing transportation now I know that a panther is the best bang for my buck. And I didn't want to ditch panthers because I don't like themj... the plan was to replace my fiance's car with a cobalt, me drive the balt and her drive the vic. I'm just having issues adapting to traffic here in KC with my vic... but hopefully i'll learn because I still love them all to death.

As for PMing him I will in a moment if the post on CVN falls through. A member there will be running a check shortly for me I believe. Thanks!

I'll keep y'all updated and get pics if I end up buying this car tomorrow...

EDIT:
I have spent the latest year feeling trapped in my life. I've been going through some very hard things (at least hard for me personally) that I'd rather not talk to ANYONE about. Given those things it made me feel trapped about some things. Even through all of that I loved Christine. Then when Nadia and I moved out here to kansas city I started feeling trapped with Christine (my vic). The traffic here is very different and I was having problems with people snapping in front of me then braking hard to switch lanes or just get ahead in traffic, etc. This was causing me to have to slam on my brakes several times a day on the way to and from work. This, combined with the insane parking problems i've been having... well I really wanted a change. That and I ended up lowering the front of the car to the maximum allowed which caused it to be perfectly aligned for highway driving, but on domed roads it pulled off the side a bit... well duh! that gets annoying. So I wanted a change to something with a manual, a little bit slower, and tons smaller.

I'm still trying to learn how to drive in KC and it's getting better, but not much. Hopefully I'll get used to it before I am capable of replacing my new vic (whatever one I end up getting) so that I can continue to stay in the panther family. After being involved in the totalling accident involving highway speeds, black ice and a 6" wooden sign post... well I must admit I have a newfound fondness for the safety of a vic and the comfort it provides. I've been driving an 02 Saturn SL1 for over a week now and I have to admit I can't stand small cars. I figured I could get used to a small car (and a cobalt is bigger than an SL1) but the smallness is really getting to me. I got to test drive an 05 vic on Friday which had a few problems buy DAMMN.... I really miss being in a panther. It's something you kind of take for granted and you forget how great of cars they really are. I've been talking about panthers 24/7 all weekend since that drive... I even dreamed about driving one last night....

Hopefull the above explanation makes more sense and you don't have to hate me for my temporary lack of faithfulness to the panther platform... can you forgive me?

Okay, got the OASIS checked on it. Thanks for the quick update on who to talk to... no longer needed though. No accidents. I'll be crossing my fingers that everything looks in order when I talk to them tomorrow.

lol I wasn't bustin' ya, people change and have different tastes after a while. Sorry to hear what's happened though, hopefully this new one will work out for the best.

For problem driving the best thing to do is drive slow.

This is easy if you do three things.

One don't care aobut the guy behind you, if your in a panther it helps as they usually think your old or a cop and expect you to drive slow.

Two, listen to a book on tape. They really help you drive slow, unlike good music, and you don't mind taking 10 minutes extra to get to work as you get to find out what happens.

Three leave for work early, about 20 minutes. Then when you get there 10 minutes late you don't care and you enjoy the slow drive.

Trust me I have driven in London in rush hour. The M25 the world fastest parking lot and the busiest road in Europe, It is a 121 mile circle and has 165000 cars between junctions 14 and 15 a day. I used to drive through that area going to college.

A few more tidbits for you.

Longest line of stationary traffic
<DD>On the 17th of August, 1988, there was 22 miles of stationary traffic between junctions 9 and 8 of the M25.
<DT>Largest parking areas <DD>The largest parking areas in the world (excluding the M25) are at the West Edmonton Mall, Alberta, Canada, and at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, W. Midlands, UK, which can both hold 20000 vehicles. </DD><DD>

I'll try the book on tapes. That's the only thing I could do that I'm not already doing. I already leave early and just drive slow and ignore everyone else who isn't directly endangering me by tailgating...

This is the only other one of theirs I'm semi-interested in. The others all involved many accidents or airbag deployment. This says right side impact. OASIS show labor hours on that? Or if anything else occured on it?

(I promise, that is the last one I'm asking for tonight)

Not necessarily anything... the silver 04 had transmission service and one COP replaced within the first year to 1.5 years of service. Nothing major since then... just curious about the tranny repair (OD band went out... got burned up)... but I plan to ask them about that tomorrow. This other one is reported as having a side impact, but I was curious about it also especially if it was a very minor right side impact and only required repair of a door or something minor...

Or if you were asking what was wrong with my 01...

Alright, going to bed now... either here or on my thread on CVN I would really appreciate if someone could check 2FAFP71W74X176610 for me. Thanks in advance... i appreciate the help.

Try practicing in the Northern Virginia or DC Metro area for a month or so. That ought make KC traffic seem like a walk in the park. ;)

Good luck on your transition and finding the right commuter car for you.

djbruce26,if you're looking for a NICE Panther platform car I just traded my 03 Grand Marquis Ultimate edition in on Jan.18th and the dealer is selling it now as a Ford Certified car for $10,995.00. 34,266 miles. The guy who owned it before me was anal about service and maintainence and so was I,it was only worked on or touched by the same dealership that sold it new. It's SB,Flint interior,CD Changer, just about every option except power moon roof and heated seats. It's a sweet car,in top notch condition. I had it for almost 2 years and the ONLY reason I traded it was
I got a chance to get a DTR MM. I had planned on driving it until it or I died. The only thing I noticed about it was there was a SLIGHT pulse of the brake pedal at low speed stops signaling the rotors were starting to warp slightly. If they certified the car they should have taken care of it or would do it for you if you bought it. Cosmeticly it had a few chips on the sides of the car and a scratch on the hood that someone did a crummy job of putting touch up paint on and a scratch on the trunk lid my downstairs neighbor put the when he was taking a ladder out of the garage.
The dealer is Arlington Heights Ford In Arlington Heights,Il.
If you or anyone else wants a really nice GM email or pm me and I'll give you the whole total inside scoop on what I got for the car on trade in and everything else I know about the car.
I'll edit this in a few minutes and post a link to the car on the dealers website.
I'd love someone who'd like this car as much as I did to get it
Uncle Lar
PS,this car has the clock in the dash and the map pockets around the front seats. I can probably get MY dealer (not the selling dealer) to print out full service records on this car since new if he's able to. I think RoylPita can tell us if that's possible.
If you get the idea I liked this car, you're right. UL

I appreciate the response. You might also consider posting that over on www.crownvic.net if you haven't (and if you are registered there) so that someone there may see it and have a chance at a great vic.

I ended up purchasing an 04 vic last night. The silver one was just too good a deal to pass up. The maintenance record was there, I spoke to a tech that did most of the maintenance on this vehicle... it was in super clean condition... etc.

I'm not registered over there, but if you'd like to copy and post it there by all means feel free to do so.
