Audiophile Difficulty

DEFYANT

Lives Elsewhere
I've had a few Audiophile 6L8T-18C815-FD now. They install fine, power up and play fine except the CD player would not load. It feels as if there is something blocking the disc. This as happen more than two now and am beginning to think I am missing an important step in the installation process.

Thanks

There maybe a disk stuck in there. Shouldn't be anything else to do other than connect it up.

Might want to search the internet to see if there is a procedure to manually eject a disk.

Just a shot in the dark here. Try holding the eject button while turning on the car or radio.

I found that loading and unloading with "power off" works better than with unit powered.
I had the same difficulty with mine when I first started and tried to load while radio was playing.
Does your unit show a disc in any of the six slots?

Nope, nothing stuck in there. I have already sent the last radio back to the seller, so I can not try the fix suggestion.

See above.

I will try your suggestions on the next radio that comes in. Thanks guys.

Don't you have to hit a load button for each slot?

I know on my friends 2007 Mountainier you have to use a load button to get the CD's in the 6 disk changer.

Yes - you have to press the load button. Then it will prompt you to choose which slot to use unless there is only one slot available.

My diagnosis is a loose nut behind the head unit.

Here is comes. I knew it was a matter of time. I'll just  while you all:neener: and :fishslap:. I'll be over here sitting in a bunker here behind my Wall watching The Wizard of Oz sync with Dark Side of The Moon :hide: .

Who loves ya man????

i just read a post this morning here with a link to the 07 Escape manual that has instructions on operating the radio.

Also when installing, do not push down on the top of the unit imediately behind the face, center. This is a VERY weak place on the unit and directly under it contains the door mechanisms. This is what was wrong with mine, very easy fix.

Hey guys, received my 6 CD Audiophile this past week and installed it in the car. Great sound, but had the same problem as the OP with a jammed CD. Loaded the first one and tried it out; sounded great. Then tried to load additional CDs, but ended up with error messages. Can't get any of the other slots to load and on top of it, the #1 slot won't eject; actually get a message "no CD" when I try to access it.

Downloaded http://www.autodealertools.com/quickQuote/manuals/2007/Escape.pdf

but don't see any troubleshooting tips.

Contacted my seller, he doesnt; have any replacement units, but will refund my money. Would actually rather fix the unit (not to mention get my CD back).

Any suggestions on a fix?

You could try a total power down, meaning remove the unit from the dash and let it set overnight, may not help but can't hurt...

My $79($90 & change shipped) unit from a private seller on ebay works great, I'm tickled with it...

Good tip.

Tried unhooking, then re-connecting, but didn't allow any time.

Will try it again when I get home tomorrow evening.

Anybody tried pulling one of these units apart? Would be willing to try and fix it if it's repairable (i.e. mechanical jam vs electrical component issue).

You may want to check to be sure the problem Bob posted isn't the cause, if the mechanism can't rise high enough to align with the disc slot it's not going to load/eject...

I've taken a few single disc units apart and managed to get them working(which includes my orig) but I've never even looked inside a six disc unit...

BTW if anyone ever wondered why bawazir had a Johnny Cash song playing in most of his videos, that disc was hung up in the head unit...

^^^ lol. When I got my audiophile unit - it had 6 CD's already in it!

I pressed eject and they all came out - one by one - key was in off position in car. Perhaps this may help, try it with key off.

My unit works great - I put 169 songs on one CD. Also anyone notice that it has a speed function? When you go faster the volume automatically gets louder. I think I set mine to +5
