Big Brakes on a not-so-big Budget? YEP

Saw another post about local guy Selling Corvette Calipers.
SO I checked Ebay and won a pair of GM High Performance Loaded Dual Piston Calipers Pair Corvette Chevy Sreet Rod C5.

Just like the concert I saw Tueday, Brit Floyd.
Got in for $10, parking was $25

You sly dog. :D

Someone elsewhere noted that there's 1/2" or so where the rotor is untouched by the pad. I noticed that as well, but my attitude is that I'm still gaining pad-to-rotor contact overall vs the OE stuff, and these calipers are so much better, that it's a net benefit.

I guess if you have OCD, maybe it'd be an issue, but I don't...[/QUOTE

Could the pads be cut back a bit or bracket be re machined to bring calipers closer into the hub ?

Not enough to cover all that real estate.
I went with zinc coated rotors and haven’t had a rust issue where they don’t hit.
Note: not driven in the winter.

Pardon me if this was already answered but can 2013-2014 Shelby rotors be used? They are shown as 380 mm vs 355 mm for 2012.

That's a nearly 15" rotor, gonna need bigger than 18" wheels, won't matter anyway, the bracket and caliper/pad only make so much contact, you'll have "open" rotor surface not being contacted by brake

Weren't there reports of pads hanging off the edge of the rotor? I thought this might solve that issue.

So I am ordering some parts for my setup and noticed that brake pads interchange with Cadillac XLR.

What are the chances that the calipers are also the same? They look identical in the images. I wonder if the only difference is Corvette/XLR stamping. If this is the case the XLR calipers are about half the price of Vette ones which would bring the price of the whole setup even lower.

Edit:
According to a couple of threads on XLR forums Corvette C6 brakes bolt right on which means that XLR calipers can be used. C6 calipers are same as C5, just have thicker casting on top to combat separation.

I ordered a set of XLR calipers with brackets from RockAuto for $61.60 a piece. Will update regarding fitment when they come in.

Yes please do. I’ve had brackets and hoses for like two years collecting dust!

Great detective work, Serge.
The savings should push a few more people into doing this (worthy) upgrade.

Oreilly had calipers with brackets for 35.00 or 41.00 each side... that's employee prices. I bought enough to do 2 cars,..

Xlr Is just cheaper?

Amazon had a few cheap awhile back too
