Centerville Roundup 2009
Okay folks, time to start gauging interest in a meet again. We had a great turnout the last 2 years, so lets make it just as big or BIGGER than year's past!

I'm going to suggest Sunday, November 1st again for the proposed meet.

Like last year, instead of eating at Woodys and getting your vehicles dirty, we will rent the pavillion at the park.

This is a Picnic lunch folks! As always, everyone is welcome, and all cars are welcome!

If you don't want to go to the trouble of packing a lunch, feel free to stop at Woody's and pick up stuff to go etc.

Woody's Smokehouse took great care of us last year but I think a lot of us didn't like getting our babies Dusty.

If you have FMRS/GMRS Radios, thats very helpful in communicating in a convoy as well!

Details:

WHERE: Fort Boggy State Park , Centerville, TX (map to come) http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/f...ks/fort_boggy/
When: 1st November 2009, 11 AM to ???

PLEASE NOTE: FORT BOGGY IS A STATE PARK, we must abide by all the rules, no hot rodding, burnouts, speeding etc. You will be ticketed and asked to leave.

When entering the park, pull in PAST the stop sign, park your car and check in at the booth. DO NOT enter the park without checking in and getting a pass to place on your windshield.

The park entry is now FREE, however, they still ask you to check in.

The Park Ranger at Fort Boggy is very nice and have accommodated us last year very nicely. Alcohol and Glass containers are also prohibited inside the park.

Feel free to bring a cooler with cold drinks, folding chairs, sunglasses, sunscreen, baseball caps etc. Yup, November but it was warm last year!

For all us North Texas guys, we will probably meet up at the Whataburger in Ennis along I-45 that morning and drive together to Centerville. I think we usually come back on our own. Anyway, more info will be posted later and I hope after the great turnout at Southlake we can get alot more cars down to Centerville.

Ill go, ill have to figure out how far it is from me. Unless i meet at that whataburger

I do plan on being there with the Shelby and my wife, but in between jobs again, so cannot commit for sure.

Crzybiker;

Are you going to charge a fee to let us take the Shelby for a turn or will you let your FRIENDS drive it for gratis. LOL

First Redster, now Crzybiker joining the Shelby club. Dont recall seeing pics of eithers new car so maybe they are just bs-ing us!

HAHA, rides are always free for friends! Have not had the chance to get "good" pictures of mine, but here are a few samples.

I plan to attend as well. It was great meeting many of the North Texas members for the first time at the Southlake show!

Decal design; Centerville 09

This years design for the Centerville meet will be a Frontier Indian motif.

Since we have been meeting at Fort Boggy, I did a little research and found that it was an outpost built by settlers and patrolled by Texas Rangers in 1840. After years of conflict the Indians left for Mexico or reservations and eventually the white settlers left due to sickness.

The design will feature an outline of Texas in a natural color with a background of an old map. In the foreground will be cross Texas and US Flags and laying of top will be an Indian Spear and shield, in bright colors, crossed by a Cavalry Carbine. The name Ft. Boggy will appear.

James' Marauder will be seen as an overreaching image.

The usual script of Texas Marauders on top with Centerville, Nov 09 on the bottom.

Our graphic artist, Katye, has the outline and will begin work immediately.

I'll post the draft when I get it. And changes can be made at that time.

Decals should be about $6.00 each.

So order after you see the final product.

Regards,

Count me in, along with my wife and two kiddos. If the weather is nice, the kids will likely go swimming in the lake. Or maybe a little fishing.

Now which Panther to drive.....

Hey John! We need to get together one of these days with the chilluns. Remember, I'm just down the road from you now in Friendswood.

Uh, I dont know about swimming in that lake. Better check out the Texas Park webpage. Might be full of leeches or even gators (or both).

There is an area roped off for swiming and a dock to fish off of or you can bring a small boat, they have a ramp also. Dave went swiming in there with no problems....if it is still warm you might want to bring some bug spray.

It was still very warm 2 years ago. Dave took all the kids swimming including mine, or at least he ended up being their entertainment/diving board. I know mine with bring their suits if they go.

Decal rendition in progress

Provided more input to the Graphic Artist, Kayte, concerning the Indian motif of the Centerville decal.

She informed me that I should have a first draft next week sometime.

What I can tell you is that the top side script will read TEXAS MARAUDERS
(SPACING) FORT BOGGY.

Bottom side script will read CENTERVILLE (SPACING) NOVEMBER 09.

James' car will be featured along with an American Indian spear, shield, and headdress.

His car will have 24" wagon wheels plodding along a rutted trail somewhere between Fort Boggy and San Angelo. Just kidding.;)

A state of Texas image in a natural color will fill the foreground with a frontier map as background.

I think.
