Decent non-drony mufflers?

A couple years ago I had a custom Jardine cat-back system w/ xpipe installed on my 2004 CV Sport.

I don't know if the packing is all blown out of the mufflers now or what, but the drone from 45-65 mph makes me want to punch a dolphin in the face.

Any recommendations for replacement mufflers?

I've seen the Dynomax Super Turbos mentioned, but I'm sure the 4v purrs a bit differently than my 2v.

I don't care about scaring the neighbors, this is our main vehicle and I have a baby on the way, and would prefer a quieter interior (omg I'm getting old lol)

Thanks,
Kristina

Kristina... please see above... below my user name... that is all!

Oh, and your avatar is awesome... pro-mod willis... mmmm

Being a firefighter and having had a dalmatian... I like your illustration of the dalmatian holding the hose in his mouth! Nice site!

Get Borla mufflers. They're available in your size and there was one MM owner on here that tried them out and took them back off because they were too quiet.

Magnaflows in 18"-long body/case.

I experimented with Dynomax Super Turbos originally. They sound pretty good but make more noise INSIDE the cabin than outside, and they can drone over time. I'm no youngster, and I can't stand drone.

Magnaflows are better build quality and will last as long as you want to run them---not to mention a better, deeper sound OUTSIDE the vehicle with minimal disruption inside. Go for 14"-long body if you want it a little louder.

I'd say if you want quiet but good quality sound, get maybe a more quiet magnaflow, that way you will still get the nice deep tone when you step on it.

Stock muffs aren't a bad idea though.

the packing is gone from them - I'd suggest Dynomax super turbos 25" overall length will be quieter then: borlas, mangnaflow and will not spit, crackle or pop - they will flow better than OEM.

RR Suki has them with big bad long tubes and they are quiet.

Resonators. Do you have them? That's why the factory installed them on almost every V8 & V6 luxury cars and trucks. I'm running 4 resonators with 25" Dynomax turbo style mufflers. I have a nice & quiet cabin without any slightest hint of drones. No packing material to EVER blow out like my last set of Magnaflows. Heck, I've even blown out 2 sets of ceramic core Magnaflow catalytic converters. Replaced them with matallic core and no problems since.

I'm sure some people will chime in and say they have no drones without resonators with this and that mufflers or no mufflers at all. I guess we all have different tolerence levels.

^^^ 25" Dynomax super turbos do have packing in them that can blow out over time.
not a big deal as they are only $50 each.

Yes, but the muffler is the reverse flow style with baffles which by design cancels out the majority of the exhaust sound. Their Ultraflow and just about all of Magnaflow are straight through flow which rely on the packing to absorbing the sound and if they blow out then...

BTW, Dynomax Super Turbo with 25"+ overall length are about $89 each. They were worth every pennies for me since they tamed my SW LT headers.

I love mine too, very very quiet until you really get into the throttle.

Cheap solution is to find a Marauder owner that still has their old stock MM mufflers laying around. Decent flow, quiet at idle or highway speed.

Don't drop them on your foot though. :-)

I think I'll try the longest Super Turbos. Can't beat the price!!

I have the metallic core Magnaflow cats already installed too, got tired of frying the stock ceramic ones. (the car was drony before those though lol)
