Not to minimize what happened (I'd be just as mad as you are if it happened to my car) but be thankful it wasn't worse. My wife knows a woman who had a deer jump out of the woods and land on the roof of her car. Believe it or not, the deer "totaled" the car! I've also seen a picture of a Mass. State Police cruiser that rolled over after hitting one. The cruiser was smashed so bad, if it hadn't been for the French & Electric Blue MSP colors, you wouldn't have known what kind of car it was! Having your car hit a deer can cause some serious damage. Sorry about your car, but I'm glad you are o.k..

Mark - It doesn't look to bad , could have been worse. Hope there were no injuries. It is hard to see the damage , looks like the side marker but there is probably more. Hopefully you will be back on the road shortly. John :(

Mark it looks like you avoided what could have been a bad accident? You could have hit that deer head-on?I know I clipped on once, they come out of-nowhere and scare the pants off you!

Once I had 7 of them run across the road in front of me. Missed 6 of them. The 7th one did $3,000 damage. The deer got up and ran away.

:fire:

Thanks all, nobody hurt. I was bringing my daughter back from basketball, coming in our development lane at low speed in the dark. Never saw it until it hit the front corner of the car at a full run, scared the sh*t out of us. Stupid thing ran along beside us for a moment, then across the front and was gone. $500 deductible plus time off work...aarrrg

I had that mishap once and hope I don't ever again. Was driving my wifes dodge neon a few years ago at night in the rain and out of no where came this deer, caught it in the air and thought it was going to crash thru the windshield, major damage to the windshield and front end. :bigcry: Traded it in for a Suzuki Grand Vitara, the neon was never the same. I hope your Marauder gets fixed just like new or better. :depress: Sorry for the mishap, hope all is well.

I did a Nissan 240Z (it was called Datsun back then -- does anyone remember that???) in on a deer. A low car with a raked hood. It wasn't pretty and I didn't even get the license plate for the deer. No joke, I was happy just to walk away......

Mark: Looks like a easy fix? I know it tuff when the "new one" get hit. Hope you find a good body shop. Maybe I'll see you in York on the 15th.
Big Dog

You know that a deer is closely related to the "Impala"

Impala (noun) A reddish African antelope (Aepyceros melampus) noted for its leaping ability and having ridged, curved horns in the male.

Who won?

I think the deer won - didn't look like it even phased him. The local Ford dealer has a pretty good bodyshop - they did a nice job on a hood repaint after our Mountaineer got keyed, so I'll just go there. I still hope to make it to York.

If you look at the pic, you'll see the bumper was knocked out of alignment. I don't know what it'll take to fix that.

About a week ago, I told a buddy of mine I had never hit one and was due....

Bummer ,Mark. As mentioned , get a set of the whistles. They may seem hokey, but I run them on everything, and no problems....yet. I mounted minein the lower air inlet of the front bumper. You can't even see them. Heck , they even have chrome ones!!

The poor deer was probably just trying to get a closer look at that beauty.

:bigcry:

I have a co-worker whose car has been hit twice by deer, and much worse! It's sad to see however it could have been considerably worse. Good body shop will fix you right up. Best part is no one got hurt.

Best to you,

Paul:D
