Tap water contains dissolved minerals. These minerals can crystallize and clog the radiator and heater core. Which doesn't mean it will, but it can, whereas mineral-free water cannot.

So yeah, I use mineral-free water in the cooling system.

I'm not trying to be a butt head about it

But unless you bought your MM brand new and ordered it without fluids, the cancer started the day it was put together. Your not going to undo cancer by adding distilled water

Distilled. Not for rust (I agree once it starts, its all downhill after that) but to keep all the crap in the water from plugging up the system. Hard water can have lots of stuff in it. Look in an old water heater and you'll see what I'm talking about.
