Dyno tuning for the Marauder Event

I'm in. I can't pass up the chance to have the MM looked over by the masters!

I'm hoping to lock down an optomized DR tune with a chip so I don't have to worry about idle hands anymore.

Question for Dennis: If we've got one, do we need to bring our "personalized" cex file on floppy or is it just uploaded from the PCM prior to tuning / burning?

I'm in. Teamrope called in the CC# this moring for me. Mine is faster to 60 foot than his, but the factory tune gets weird from there. Anything over 35 MPH his is faster.

The car is in the shop getting a couple of dings fixed that happened in transit from the factory, so the dealer is installing the Denso's and the thermostat on Monday. (Good thing TR didn't put them in his yet. ;) )

I would like to know how much the tuner is, and if it has the capability to restore the factory tune if it has to go in for warranty work.

If I counted right?

I looked through the previous threads and counted 13 commitments for tweaks and such . I would love for someone to explain to me if the pcm is flashed with a program change, what gets adjusted during a Dyno A/F?? Or Dyno is to reveal changes in program got the best possible HP & Torque achievment?can /should I start a new thread?:confused:

I'll take a shot at this.....


A mail order chip was tuned and set up for a car LIKE yours in specs.
But It's not 100% the same as your engine.
Due to manufactor tolerences 2 engines with the same parts may not be the same power wise.

A custom tune is just that,custom.
The dyno is used because it's a constant.
During a dyno tune ,yes the A/F ratio can be tweaked to make the most ,or best,power but so can the ignition timing,as well as knock,egr,map,maf,etc sensor calibrations.
Of course the tranmission performance can also be retuned to optimize shift points,TC lock functions and more...

I think guys that have had custom tunes are picking up around 10hp over a mailed chip or reflash.

The other thing is both Dennis and Jerry are constantly tweaking thier tunes so we also benifit from that constant R&D.

Truth is the above is just what I've picked up from friends who do this stuff,and what I've listed above is just a fraction of what can be tuned,trimmed and tweaked buy these guys with a lap top computer.

Just a question, I just got back from vacation and perhaps I have missed something, we were told on 6/20/04 by Logan when he posted the itinerary, that Jerry W. would do a PCM flash at no charge, is this still a fact or has it changed since I was last online ???

This thread is about dyno, dyno tuning and flashing while on the dyno. It looks like the free PCM flash info has changed. It will still be a great deal!

My change from the generic chip program to an actual dyno tune went 293.2 to 302.4.
More importantly is the A/F tune makes sure the car is running as good as it possibly can, and the other benefits are the ability to tweak personal issues such as t/c lockup values, od shift points, WOT shift points, idle ranges in park or drive, emmision codes....the list goes on an on....to include secondary and tertiary programs on a single chip to compliment the situational issues such racing, traveling, valet modes, fuel types......again....on and on......

See thats what I was saying above,custom tune is custom,a lot of things can be changed.

If you read the post the prices are out lined, there are no Free flashes. they normally run 300.00 a chip runs 325.00 and a Tunner runs 400.00. Now I have contacted SCT and I will be able to sell the tunners for 350 and the cables for those that want them for 75.00, here is what we can do for the dyno session, Jerry will flash any ones EEC for 150.00 he will tune the car with a chip for 250.00. Jerry will tweaK Any one that has our tuning for 100.00. The reason for the Non refundable deposit is we will have to pay Richard Johnson to drive to Indy to set up his dyno there, the club nor my self cannot aford to pay this if we have a bunch of no shows, this is your chance to get the best tuning there is for our cars. Richard will also offer pulls just to check AF and RWHP # for 75 a pop. Now if any one has a tune from us or a chip and its not right we will fix that for free, plus any dyno time.
I will offer a lower flash for customers that do not want ant dyno time.

Right now we need just a few more confirmed commitments, and its all locked in, So please call today.

I called Dennis Thursday the 15th and ordered the stage one. When I came home friday I like to shat myself as it was already there!!!
