Elec window motor

I looked and wonder if anyone else has had the issue of motor for power window stopping. I had one replaced on the front passenger door a couple years ago and now the same one is out again wtf! Has anyone had the same door issue?

Before you get to replace the motor please take a look if your real issue is the master control. They are known to have or accumulate carbon on the internal contact points, as result it will give an intermittent issue, sometimes it will allow the windows to operate normal, other times it will stop responding. Just a thought!

Do the interior lights dim when trying the switch?

If it does then the motor might be jammed. You can loosen it by working the switch and banging on the interior door panel.

If it doesn't then there is no power to the motor.

Swap one of the rear switches with the front and and see if it works.

elec motor window

154,ooo miles and passengers doors replaced once and drivers door twice. motors tend to build up carbon residue inside that short circuits motor. used to be able to remove motors and open up to clean out residue but now are largely sealed. have had same issue with my 1995 bronco.

I did notice because it happened at night the lighted switch on the passenger door blinked as I tried to operate from drivers door. plus the speed at witch it went up and down is slow.

Is it not working at all or just working slow?

Well it stopped in the open position, pissed! So I revved the engine and it went up in a jerky motion and has not been open since.

It's could be the following:

  • Switch is making intermittent contact, try a switch from a different window
  • The regulator assembly needs to be adjusted.
  • The motor is on it's way out.

My 04 pass front was replaced last year after the car came out of the bodyshop. Coincidence?

When I repair switches I usually find a large amount of carbon and burned contacts. I remove the carbon, file and adjust the contacts and resolder the LEDs.
