Equipment checklist for MVIII

The time is getting near so I thought we would put together some recommendations for things you might want to bring with you to MVIII.

1) Lawn chairs for everyone in your party, this is almost a must have especially for the Dream Cruise.

2) The usual outdoor items; hats, sunglasses, suntan lotions. I would also suggest good walking shoes, while Burger King will be our homebase for the Dream Cruise there are a lot of sights to be seen up and down Woodward withing walking distance. Those of you that are adventurous, there are free shuttles running up and down Woodward most of the day so you really can get out and see some of the different areas and displays set up by the auto companies and suppliers.

3) If you have a EZ up canopy tent that you are planning on bringing, please send me a PM and let me know. We currently have 6 available but we have to consider that we have over 150 people in attendance and we'll need some shade.

4)COOLERS!!! This is your option, however they must remain in your vehicle during Woodward Dream Cruise. Keep in mind that on Saturday at the Burger King all fountain drinks are included, you and your registered guests will receive a MVIII mug to use during the day at Burger King and the use of this mug is required in order to obtain your free fountain beverages.

5) ALCOHOL is strickly prohibited at the Woodward Dream Cruise and the local LEO's enforce this with zest. :nono:

6) Please mark items such as lawn chairs, coolers and tents with your name, just in case something gets left behind.

7) Don't forget the cameras, camcorders and plenty of film/disc space. You'll be sorry if you forget this one.

8) Leave room in the trunk to take home some of the great prizes from the vendor raffle (hint: you need to buy that ticket). :D

If you have other suggestion please send me a PM and I'll add them to the list.

Looking forward to seeing everyone here!!

Mike....I have 3 or 4 EZ up pop tents if you need them. And 2 sets of walkie talkies if the group needs them........let me know.

I would also make sure you have some bug spray, you never know when you may be outside and those pesty bugs may act up :P .

And don't forget the spare batteries (or the battery charger for the rechargable batteries) for those camera & Video camera.....and your cell phone charger :D

Um, is beer in my cooler considered alcohol? ;)

OK...having spent most of my waking hours in Michigan for the last two years, I have some advice for two genres.

DRINKERS:
BYOB if you like beer. There is a deposit on every container in Michigan. It drives up the price of a 12 pack by $1.20. Plus, their taxes are higher as well. A cheap $3.60 6-pack of Busch runs $5.60 there. However, the Red Wagon beverage store just a few miles north of the host hotel carries some of the finest, rarest, and hardest to find liquour anywhere. The prices (on liquor) are relatively good.

SMOKERS:
Michigan has some of the highest tobacco taxes I have ever seen. Cigarettes are nearly $5 a pack and those cheapie cigars I like are nearly $3 for a box of 5. Bring enough smokes to last you, cause you won't like the prices here...errr....there.....

Gas prices have been steep up there as well....but there is no avoiding that.

Thanks Donna, I'll get in touch with you for a couple of them next week. With that I think we'll be in good shape for the tents.

Well, that depends. If they catch you with it you'll be pouring it out at the curb. Perhaps even a free ride in the backseat of a CVPI. Barry is right though that beer and smokes are higher priced up here than in many states so plan ahead.
