Ford ESP refund. Who pays it?

As the extended warranty is between you and Ford (not exclusively the dealer), it is highly likely that Ford itself will refund the money. This seems especially true as the warranty is transferrable by FORD to a subsequent owner.
If you wrapped the financing of the warranty into the car payments, the refund may go the bank.
 
Here's the deal.

I purchased my 04 MM used from an out of state L/M dealer a few months back. Basically the price we agreed on was for the car and a 7/100 warranty with a zero deductible.

After about a month without receiving any sort of paperwork and getting excuse after excuse from the dealer on why it wasn't sent I had RoyLpita (sp?) run an Oasis report to see if the extended warranty was being shown.

Well the extended warranty was there but with a $100 deductible and not the zero deductible as agreed on. A week or so after finding this out I finally received some paperwork on my car. In this paperwork is a bill of sale where they broke down the price I paid for the car. Remember when I purchased the car over the phone the only price discussed was the total bottom line price so now I had something where they took the total price and broke it down by sales tax, car price, doc fees and most important the extended warranty. On this bill of sale paperwork they are showing that I paid $2000 for the extended warranty.

I've contacted the dealer about this deductible mistake and as usual they are blowing me off and not getting back to me like they said they would.

I know that I can purchase the correct extended warranty with a zero deductible online for $1500 so I'm thinking that instead of fighting with this dealer to correct their mistake that it might be easier to just request a refund for the existing extended warranty and then go purchase a new extended warranty online with the correct zero deductible.

Have I completely confused all of you yet? If not does this sound like it would work?

PS- I paid cash for everything so there are no payments or anything owed on the car.
 
The selling dealer of the warranty cuts you a check for the pro-rated un-used time on the warranty.

Been there done that when I sold my 2001 Mountaineer.

Pack-rat that's kind of what I thought but others have thought that Ford would cut the check.

Anybody know the procedure for canceling a Ford ESP?

Also anyone that purchased a Ford ESP warranty can you tell me what kind of paperwork (contract) you got?

Step 1: Call the dealer's business office and cancel the warranty. It's documented in your $2000 line item on the paperwork.
Step 2. Wait for the check.

For real, it's that easy
 
You will not recieve any money if the warranty is in the financing.
The money comes off the payments.
If your payments are 500, and the warranty refund is 2000, you will have four fewer payments.
You must cancel the warranty in writing( including exact miles)at the selling dealer.
Non financed ESP refunds, come from Ford.

I'm in a last chance to buy the extended warranty quandry. I have just 20K on my 04 and the factory warranty runs out October 14th. I've kind of decided it may not be worth it. So far I've not had any major issues. Knock wood!!!

I sure hope there is another way besides the selling dealer. If this dealer wont send me all the paperwork and wont correct the deductible mistake I really don't think they are going to be too eager to cut me a $2000 check.

What makes this headache even worse is that I purchased the car from the used car manager to avoid problems like this. Whenever I try to get someone else at the dealership, like the F&I person, to fix his mistakes I keep getting the same reply of "you need to contact the used car sales manager".

I just want what I paid for.... :mad2:

There are NO payments. I purchased the car & warranty in full with a cashiers check.

Good to know.

When I had the Mountaineer ... I bought the ESP after the fact from another dealer(not the one that sold me the truck).

I'll probably buy an ESP for the MM next September ..... before mid Oct 2007 hits.
 
Well the plot thickens.

RoyLpita (sp?) just ran my vin again thru Oasis and now it shows that I have no extended warranty at all.

Anybody have any ideas on why it now shows no extended warranty?

Don't forget that I haven't asked for it to be cancelled all I asked was for it to be corrected to a zero deductible.

Yes I have no choice but to call them again. The only reason I haven't gone off on them yet is that I'm still trying to get the car registered here in California.

They sent me a title where the vin # is missing a digit and CA does not recognize other states DMV paperwork so I need their assistance on filling out CA DMV forms which they have probably never seen before.

If I didn't need their cooperation in getting a new corrected title and filling out of this CA paperwork I would already have been on the phone with Ford and/or the owner of the dealership.

I honestly feel this we could care less attitude I'm getting is because they have been paid in full and that I'm 2500 miles away from them and they know it.

About a week after I bought my new 04, I went back to the dealer and bought the ESP and paid with a personal check.
The dealership was sold later and when we traded the car in to the new dealer. They said the ESP refund would come from a Ford excrow account of some sort since the dealer changed hands... :cool: Well, I stayed on the dealer, called Ford, ...Finally
got the refund 4 months later. The dealer said Ford just released the money from the escrow account to the dealer. The check was from the dealer. What a PITA! I'm convinced that I would never have got the money if I hadn't been a thorn in their side.:mad2:
