Header wrap?

New member
Just bought some Stainless Works headers and was wondering if I should install header wrap to keep the heat down? Curious what others who have installed headers on the marauder have done
 
Got my Kooks thermal coated from HPC....back in 2004.

Get them ceramic Coated. Mine still look like this a year later.

Save your money the header wrap! that stuff is garbage that holds in moisture , dirt , oil and anything else that comes in contact with it.
 
Wow. Well there’s no doubt your headers look better than ones I’ve seen that have been covered with header wrap.
 
I just wrapped the starter with a heat blanket. I also removed all insulation off the firewall and the a/c box and painted the firewall and undercarriage black. The insulation on the firewall was hanging down onto the exhaust and the a/c was well, just ugly. I pulled the interior and added dynamat type sound proofing and heat shield material to the firewall and floor and that took away all the added noise and heat created from the headers. The a/c is still as ice cold as ever with the fugly insulation removed for four years now.

My headers still look great after years of use but it rarely ever sees moisture.

If your only interested in heat and looks, ceramic coating them in and out is your best bet. I just didn’t have the finances at the time and wanted to focus more on cleaning up the engine bay and undercarriage and sound proofing.

A BIG +1 on the starter heat wrap/blanket!

I didn't like the idea of a bunch of hot header tubes surrounding the starter motor.
You can see mine in the picture from my previous post.
It was a lot neater looking when I first installed it...but it's been removed and re-installed multiple times and not as clean an install as before.
 
Another +1 on the starter wrap. I added mine because I want my starter to last as long as possible because getting those headers off is a nightmare. I'd rather put on 20 superchargers than ever touch the headers again.
+1 on coating vs wrap as well.
 
If you wrap Stainless Works headers your warranty will be void. Header wrap is horrible for the headers, holds too much moisture, they will rot out..
