How to silence the clock spring?

I need a new one and keep hearing the chime, almost like a seat belt when it's not buckled. Does anyone know how to silence this without replacing the clock spring? I lack time and the only thing that doesn't work is the cruise control and I'm fine with that. I think the noise is coming from the LCM, but I'm uncertain.

Any help appreciated.

I took that out long ago because I was tried of seeing it lit and really didn't care about living at the time. Is there anyway to silence this chime without a new clock spring?
 
I'd try a barbecue grill scraper. Those work for everything.

Or you could actually fix the problem, put a airbag back in where it belongs. Go to a pick and pull junkyard and get a clock spring. They are small enough to fit in your pocket too.
 
I just lack the time currently. I have a junkyard one in now and it lasted about two years. They are hard to find being that you must find something with all buttons for the proper connections. I was just looking for a quick solution to get the chime to stop.

If you don't understand the issue, I'll say it again and sorry if I am confusing ...

The clock spring is bad, I know this. A chime will go off every 30 minutes or so and it sounds just as loud and annoying as the reminder that your seat belt is off. I wish to get the car to STFU until I make the time to do this properly. I have before and I will again, but right now I lack time to go to a yard to hunt fot this part.
 
Can you not locate the "Chime Device" and unplug it Dom??:confused:

It's the first thing I do on the newer LOUDER scissor lifts we rent on every job. It's amazing what a 1" piece of duct tape over the speaker hole can do!

Stuff insulation into it then duct tape, instant silencer

Lol. I was in the rental industry for 18 years, everyone must hate those beepers cause 75% would come back with insulation and e tape!

How deep into the column are the clock springs?
 
I'm pretty sure the "chime device" is internal to the LCM. If you silence that, you will have no warning for "key in ignition", "headlights on", seatbelts, or any of the other intrusive government-mandated warnings for clueless morons.

I know it's from that box, but I don't know what I have to do to shut it up. The only thing I can think of was wrapping it with a shop rag, but I don't want it to get too hot and cause a bigger problem. I'm sure it has vents for a reason...
 
I don't have a loose one to confirm, but I'm pretty sure you'd have to desolder the transducer from the board. This isn't going to be a "cut the blue wire" fix...
