I do not see why you could not buy an S/C kit, and install it yourself, or have someone else install it.
Many of us here with little or no mechanical experience have done so, particularly with a nice manual.

It is the final tuning that concerns me.
Not sure what resources you have available to you to make mild changes AFTER the install. You are just so far away.

I had mine installed, but I watched and actually had to take mine on and off twice. An install really is pretty simple and can be done in about 6 hours if you know what you are doing... maybe a weekend for a first timer.
