I bought a Supercharger when I was Jobless and squat in the bank.

It's thinking like that that keeps me in hookers, um I mean friends! :D

Actually {earth shuttering} I agree with Zack, you only live once and life is short! Stay tuned for my next toy purchase! :D

Sorry to hear that Matt, but sometimes ya' gotta do what ya gotta do.

Pick up a couple of lottery tickets ...

Maybe you'll get lucky before the car rides off into the sunset.

I hope that...

Everyone who owns a sweet ride now subscribes to the gas crunch waa waa so that I can pick up Z06's, Vipers, GTs, and Cobras for next to nothing. I always hear from the old guys in the 70's how you could pick up muscle cars for cheap and look at 'em now!

Just a thought..............not a flame!

All the more reason not to get rid of the Merc. After all of that you need to just jump in her and it the highway for a spell. Clears the head and puts a smile on your mug especially when you turn off the radio and just listen to the Flow 40's sing.

Plus you don't have to get a brand spank new 4 banger, a used one will do and you can still keep the MM for the weekend. You might even try putting it back to the stock tune for the time being, if you have a tuner.

I have a running 4 banger pickup, but still use the Marauder as my daily driver.

Smiles for miles.
Good luck what ever your decision,
Waymon

Sorry that's what you must do, the thought of owning a four cylinder car makes me kinda sick to my stomach....best wishes, and visit with us when you can.
Hey... I own two 4cyl cars.... 88 Thunderbird Turbocoupe and an 87 Mitsubishi Starion Turbo. :cool4:

They are a LOT of fun ! ! ! !

Sorry to hear that you will let your car go. Everyone has a story. No one knows your real story. Some folks have deep pockets and can afford to spend money. Some folks still live at home which gives them extra cash. Others have small cars as well and drive their MMs on special days. You do what you have to do to get by. If things get better maybe you can buy another MM. Good luck.

I guess that makes everyday special for me!:D

Baby steps! get a turbo V-6 , unless it's a Porche' ya know,... Frenche

Don't know why y'all seem to have it in for the guy, but I'm getting pretty sick of it.

Regardless of the past, or who posted it, I didn't think it was perfectly acceptable for a member to call another member "pathetic" because they are handling a tough financial situation in the best way they personally see fit. A financial situation no one besides the poster knows anything about. I didn't know we condoned kicking a fellow member when he was down on his luck.

I guess I stand corrected. I now understand that anyone who is less fortunate then some of the others are just idiots for trying to own a nice car.

Don't sell

First off Don't Sell It!!!!!!!

Let it sit with a cover on it and get a $2000.00 4cyl car to comute with or car pool or do public transportation.
Personal story time....
When I was 17 (28 years ago) I bought my 68 big block SS/RS Camaro and through the years have run the gambit of being broke and not broke. When ever I ran out of money and could not afford maintaining it or insuring it I would let it sit and drive a 6 cyl nova, sometimes for long periods of time. What got me through it was just knowing I had my Camaro sitting home under a cover. Now my Camaro is a high 9 second street car that is bitcchin. I can't tell you how many people through the years see it and say something like "I use to have one of these when I was younger". I always reply ..."what the hell happened to it, why don't you have it now and they always say they had to get rid of it for financial reasons and they feel like crap about it. Bottom line....let it sit, skip a few meals, cancel your cable TV, no more beer and suck it up and keep the dam car!

I wouldn't do it. I'd just look at auto trader for a $1000 daily beater like a mid 90's Tarus or something just to get to work and drive the Marauder on a weekend only basis.

When folks have the money to do these types of things, I say more power to 'em!

But, in all fairness, this is terrible advice to give to someone who is trying to best handle a tough financial situation. In an USA filled with over extended credit this kind of mentality can destroy people.

Until we walk a few feet in MattsMerc shoes, we have no idea what he is dealing with. How about a little sensitivity?

I hope he can work it out and keep the Marauder as well. But, if he can't, that's his business, and who are we to tell him he is wrong only to make him feel bad.

You don't have to explain anything to these people. Do what you have to do. If you can swing it to keep the Marauder, I'm sure you'd appreciate it down the road. But, if not, so be it. Be wise and take care of your obligations. It pays off in the long run. Good luck!

Matt...hope everything goes ok...forget the barbs and pokes from others here and do what you gotta...willie

This is probably the worst time to try and sell a Marauder. It won't matter much what features your MM has, or, your actual MPG. Americans are reeling from gas pump prices, and relief is not in sight. Knee jerk reactions will cause your MM to be percieved as a "gas guzzler" due to it's size and muscle car appearance, which is likewise true for the SUV market. 4-bangers are already pulling top dollar prices, and what you get for the MM probably won't help you much in the long run.

I'm not being sentimental about this. Hate to see you go, but try to make it another six months? You could do better, or worse then, but I don't think anyone can predict that far down the road. However, IMHO, if you are pinched for cash flow, selling your MM isn't going to give you any relief, other than taking a car payment off the table. If so, can taking a second job help?

Nonetheless, best wishes.

Matt has to decide what is right for him, he also does not owe us an explanation on his personal life, my thinking is more along the lines of MikesMerc that pathetic is not a friendly way to talk to a friend...would not be my choice of words.

Also I happen to be a very blunt, black or white, yes or no kinda guy, Matt chose to post, his opening post mentioned the price of gas...AND ONLY THE PRICE OF GAS, NO OTHER MOTIVE. Let's get real here, if that is the only reason, then I can certainly understand Zack's statement and agree with Zack...I just would use different language to say the same thing.

Let's take a look at this in black and white. It's not so bad that way.

Average miles per year 12,000

Take 22 mpg as the best mpg = 545 gallons of fuel

545 Gallons @ $2.50 $1,362.50

545 Gallons @ $3.00 $1,635.00
__________
Difference extra per year $273.00
