I think I blew my engine

Reek09

"Lead Foot"
Got in it today to go to lunch and when I started it sounded like somebody was shaking a can with rocks in it. It smoothed out for a few but then as I was driving it got louder. Checked the oil it was none on my dipstick..put oil it in and on the way home the noise got louder and louder..pulled over at a gas station and popped the hood and it was sounding like the cam is hitting against the covers or something sounds terrible..and now I'm heart broken. Any advice where I should get an engine?? I'm in fort Washington, MD...

There are many threads here for finding a replacement engine. Share with the senior members here (not me) a few details and good advice will be yours.

* budget
* fix, replace or dream engine
* share any modifications you have (engine wise)

No mods at all besides a tune and exhaust

+1

Need to find out what the problem is first.

Yea I'm contemplating that I work at Darcars dealership in MD but I don't have the funds right now for any major work being as though I just moved into my house...oh well she will have to sit on the back burner for now..

I'd hope for a blown spark plug like Marauderjack said, but it doesn't sound good. It honestly sounds familiar! I heard a ticking one night w mine, and checked the oil. With less than 2000 miles after my last oil change, nothing was registering. This is what my crank looked like. I now check my oil religiously once or twice a week, after my rebuild! Good luck!

-3 quarts

3 qts? How did you wind up with a deficit of 3 quarts?

QUOTE=Reek09;1449227]It was like 3qts low and that's synthetic oil..[/QUOTE]

Sounds like the cam chain let go and its slapping the cam cover. This could happen with low oil and the cams hesitate.

I totally understand what you are saying. It takes all of 2 min to check it and it gives me a piece of mind. If it all pours out while I'm driving and I miss it then oh well.

My car is also losing oil but I've never let it get below 1 quart. I check it every 2 weeks really depends on how much its been driven though.
